On December 21st and 22nd the second Tourstop of the Zillertal VÄLLEY RÄLLEY hosted by Ride Snowboards stopped at Ski-optimal Hochzillertal Kaltenbach to kick off the snowpark season at Betterpark Hochzillertal. Saturday was the Coaching Day! Together with the Ästhetiker coaches, thirty motivated shredders were riding all possible lines of the Betterpark Hochzillertal, learning new tricks and testing the latest snowboards and bindings from Ride Snowboards. After a short lunch break at the Kristallhuette all the riders cruised the valley run in a joint shred-down session together.

On Sunday, the crowd witnessed an awesome snowboard show at the Betterpark Hochzillertal. The kids, amateurs, girls and pros were all raising the bar to grab the gold metal and rake in the prize money, new product from Ride Snowboards and shopping vouchers from HOTZONE.TV.

In the Rookie Class, Czech ripper Daniel Kaspar impressed the judges the most. He took first spot on the podium in front of Jens Rummens from Belgium and the German up-and-coming talent Max Gruenwald, who managed to take the lead in the Overall Tour Rookie Ranking with his 3rd place. 7-year old talent Fabian Nehring was awarded “Super Grom of the Day because he rips.” In the girls category Bettina Wildauer from Mayrhofen won the competition taking over the top spot in the Overall Tour Girls Ranking. Martina Zollner took second and Bianca Delava placed third for the ladies on the podium. Englishman Simon Cudlip won the men´s contest with some amazing runs and was followed by Zillertal local Tom Tramnitz who also took the best trick title with his stylish Frontside 720 Double Handed Tail Grab. With David Pils in third place, the podium was complete. Ride Snowboards Teamrider and ripper Maximilian Preissinger is now sharing the lead in the VÄLLEY RÄLLEY Overall Open Class
Ranking together with Zillertal local Alex Walch. A big congratulations to all!

Martha Schultz, Schultz Gruppe / Ski-optimal Hochzillertal Kaltenbach is delighted about the team play with the Ästhetiker:“We are pleased to create additional value for our valley in co-operation with the Ästhetiker. With the VÄLLEY RÄLLEY we had the perfect kick-off event for the start of the snowpark season at the Betterpark Hochzillertal. We wish all the best for the two remaining tourstops in the valley.“

All riders of the second tourstop in Ski-optimal Hochzillertal Kaltenbach will gain valuable points to add to their Zillertal VÄLLEY RÄLLEY overall point account plus standings in the World Snowboard Tour Ranking. At the end of the tour, a Prince, a Queen and a King of the VÄLLEY will be crowned and honored with one of the highly coveted starting spots for the National Championships N.ASA Shred Down Austrian Masters Slopestyle. The overall Rookie Tour Champion also wins a starting spot for the N.ASA organized World Rookie Finals.

The Betterpark Hochzillertal will now be open until the end of April. The snowpark has its own park lift for extended sessions giving you more runs in less time. No matter if you are a freestyle novice or expert, the 300 meter-long park is set up with six lines of features that offer something for everyone to ride. There are seven perfectly shaped kickers ranging from 3 to 18 meter tables so riders can build up to their biggest air. Even the little ones can take their first small jumps on the safe shapes at Betterpark Hochzillertal. Meanwhile, family and friends can chill at the park base. More than ten other obstacles, rails, boxes, tubes and pipelines turn the Betterpark Hochzillertal into the ultimate freestyle playground for all riding levels. Audi Snowboard Series

The Swiss Federation presents the best snowboard tour in Switzerland.
The national snowboard tour consists of more than over 30 events in the disciplines of freestyle, boardercross and race which take place all over Switzerland.

One of the highlights of the winter season 2013/14 include the tour stops in Laax as a 3* World Snowboard Tour contest, the European Cup in Davos , Lenzerheide and Lenk as well as the Swiss Championships of the three disciplines at the end of the season . For the first time in years the Swiss Freestyle Championships will be held together with the freeskiers and take place on the 11 and 12 of April on Corvatsch.

The larger events are open and attractive for everyone. This coming season they are weighted more strongly. In the future, they should also attract riders from the neighboring countries. This will enable the Audi Snowboard Series to further establishing itself as one of the most important junior tours of Europe in the snowboard world. At the same time in selected regional competitions tour points can be collected from this winter season on – this facilitates the competition entry for local riders. At all Open events every snowboarder can participate.

The Audi Snowboard Series serves as an ideal stepping stone for young snowboarders to evolve into the international elite. The Tour winner of 2010/11 , David Hablützel , for example, has a good chance to qualify this winter season in the halfpipe for the Olympic Games in Sochi. Furthermore, Verena Rohrer – the winner of the Tour last season – was awarded the “Rookie of the Year 2012/13” title by the World Snowboard Tour. At the latest point in time both will be participating in the Swiss Snowboard Championships – until then many young and talented riders have the opportunity to follow in their footsteps.

Dopamine is a naturally occurring chemical in the brain that influences movement and reward. At the core of progressive snowboarding, it is movement and reward that provide a natural motivation for riders like Bode Merrill, Victor De Le Rue, and Brandon Cocard to evolve and innovate. These explorers of mountain and mental landscapes led the charge this year, changing the definition of what can be done on a snowboard, and changing the guard. From the Yukon, Kootenays, Valhallas, Monashees, Dolomites, and Pyrenees, the Absinthe crew proves Dopamine is free, but you have to get out there to earn it.

Thorgren and Derungs prevail at the O’Neill Pleasure Jam

What a day up here at Superpark Dachstein it has been. With a condensed schedule in action, it was a day ram packed with some of the finest international talents throwing down in the hope of taking home the metallic glory of the O’Neill Pleasure Jam medals.

It was Sven Thorgren, WSF World Rookie Champion 2012, who took home the gold in the men’s category. His run consisting of a cab double 1080, bs 1080 and a massive double rodeo on the last hit finally clinched a victory for Sven after 2 years of being on the cups of victory. Brage Richenberg came in 3rd, no doubt with his super stylish fs 1080 off-the-toes making a big impact on his final score, whilst David Hablützel span his way into 2nd position with a bs 900, cab double 1080 and a frontside 720 sealing him in for the silverwear.

In the women’s final, it was a hotly contested battle for the trophy cabinet, but it was one of Switzerlands finest exports, Mrs Isabel Derungs that clinched the gold with a backside rodeo that was sent almost to the bottom of the landing. Backing this up with some solid moves on the rails, she definitely earned the win this year. In second place came local Austrian Anna Gasser coming in off a high from her recent cab double 900, but it was her smooth slow bs 180 that stole the silver from right under former winner Aimee Fullers nose, who had to settle for bronze.
An incredible finish to a perfect day up on the Dachstein Glacier! The full results are online here and the filmers are already locked in the editing room getting the visual assault of trickery into a video for your viewing pleasure.

Zillertal VALLEY RALLEY

On October 26th and 27th, the Zillertal VÄLLEY RÄLLEY hosted by Ride Snowboards kicked off successfully with its very first tourstop. Both days had some great riding on tap at the Betterpark up on the beautiful Hintertuxer Glacier. Zillertal resident Englishman Rowan Coultas took victory in the Rookie Class, Joanna Dzierzawski from Poland won the girls contest and Canadian snowboarder Jordan Phillips took home the men´s gold medal.

Under blue skies and sunshine, more than twenty ambitious shredders of all riding levels gathered on Saturday at the Betterpark Hintertux to ride and learn something new at the freestyle coaching sessions with the Ästhetiker crew. Ride Snowboards was set up all weekend long for riders to test/demo the latest gear, sip a Red Bull and listen to some good jams. At the end of a perfect day, the Tourism Association Tux Finkenberg donated free drinks and snacks for everyone at the get-together on the sun terrace of the restaurant Hochleger at Sommerberg.

Even strong winds could not prevent the riders from giving their best, setting high standards in the open slopestyle contest on Sunday at the Betterpark Hintertux. Snowboard pros, amatures, rookies, girls and boys between the ages of 7 and 37 battled it out in a common session on the Medium Line. Everyone was being judged in their own category with their best run of three runs scoring the points.

Zillertal resident Englishman Rowan Coultas won in the Rookie Class and made it up to second place on the overall men´s podium just behind the winner Jordan Phillips from Canada. Rowan´s fellow countryman Jamie Trinder took 3rd place in the men´s contest while Tit Stante from Slovenia scored second in the Rookie category and Ride Snowboards team rider Maximilian Preissinger from Germany took 3rd place on the young guns podium.

Joanna Dzierzawski from Poland won the girls contest, while Adéla Kreisingerová from Czech Republic scored second and Austrian talent Birgit Rofner landed in third place. “The contest was really fun and I think it’s great to have Pro’s and the kids riding together, as long as they are judged separately,” said Joanna, “Unfortunately, but not surprisingly, weather played a big role in the event but looking around everybody seemed to have a smile on their face and pumped to be there!”

Men´s winner Jordan Phillips from Canada was stoked about the contest: ”I heard about it from a friend. He lives in the Zillertal valley and since I was visiting he told me I should come out and ride with the kids for this event the Ästhetiker crew is putting on. The contest was really a fun time. Everyone had a lot of opportunity to ride and learn. It really felt like it was all about getting people more stoked on snowboarding. The park up at Hintertux is so sick. It has a little bit for everyone. I trained there for the Olympic Games in Sochi.”

British ripper Lewis Courtier-Jones won the best trick award with his stylish Switch Backside 900. Beside the original Ästhetiker medals, the winners took home great fame and glory, prize money and mad-prizes. Ride Snowboards sponsored snowboards, bindings and backpacks, while the Online Snowboard Pro Shop HOTZONE.TV gave out free shopping vouchers.

By participating, riders collected valuable points for the overall Zillertal VÄLLEY RÄLLEY tour ranking. All final rankings after the first tourstop are posted up on www.ralleyvalley.at.

The overall tour winners will be awarded after the final tourstop when a Prince, Queen and King of the VÄLLEY will be crowned. All three overall tour winners qualify for the National Championships N.ASA Shred Down Austrian Masters Slopestyle and the overall Rookie Tour Champion wins a starting spot for the N.ASA organized World Rookie Finals. As a 1Star Event of the World Snowboard Tour, all riders gain valuable points for the World Snowboard Tour Ranking as well.

Sarah Moser, Marketing Hintertux Glacier was happy about the successful kick off event: “The demand for coaching and contest was tremendous and the high number of international riders has even impressed us! A great number of young and motivated snowboarders were giving their best at the Betterpark Hintertux and we look forward to the three upcoming tourstops in the valley.”

Until December, the Betterpark Hintertux will be shaped daily. With 8 kickers from 4 to 18 metres table, it’s probably the best glacier terrain park in the European Alps and offers the best riding conditions for every level. More than 30 jib obstacles, boxes, rails, tubes and tanks don´t leave any room for boredom. When the Betterpark Hintertux falls into hibernation in December, the new Familypark Hintertux opens it’s doors for all rail jibbers and motivated shred heads at the Sommerberg. Spring time is „Big Air Time“ again and the Betterpark Hintertux strikes back with the popular extra large setup that will be shaped daily from March until June. All info is available on www.betterpark.at and www.hintertuxergletscher.at

After the kick off in Hintertux, the Zillertal VÄLLEY RÄLLEY hosted by Ride Snowboards will travel through the valley with three more tourstops at Kaltenbach Hochzillertal, Zillertal Arena and Mayrhofen. The next stop will take place on December 21st and 22nd at the Betterpark Hochzillertal. All info and registration on www.valleyralley.at

ABOUT THE WORLD SNOWBOARD FEDERATION

The World Snowboard Federation (WSF) is the international organization exclusively working to develop the sport of snowboarding at all levels. Program areas include: competitions, Para-Snowboard, judge and shapers, education and certification, and snowboard activities for riders of every age. The WSF represents a network of National Snowboard Associations (NSAs) who work together at a worldwide level to promote the development of snowboarding. NSA members can find a source of inspiration and support from the WSF for the activities they are conducting within their nation and by working towards the same goal: progression of snowboarding from the ground up. The WSF collaborates with the TTR Pro Snowboarding, the owner and operator of the TTR World Snowboard Tour and the TTR World Ranking System. Through this collaboration and coordination of events at the TTR World Snowboard Tour, The WSF and the TTR want to create an environment that fosters the development of competitive snowboarding. In February 2012, the WSF and the TTR hosted the inaugural World Snowboarding Championships in Oslo, Norway, an elite level event to be held every four years in alternating cities around the world.
