The World Rookie Tour Skateboarding 2025 officially kicked off in Italy with the first-ever Cesena Rookie Fest, held on May 17–18 at the brand new venue for the tour: the 101 Skatepark. And what a weekend it was! With over 50 riders from across Italy, the event delivered high-energy skateboarding, good vibes, and a strong sense of community — all the ingredients that make the World Rookie Tour so special.
Saturday kicked things off with a free training session followed by a laid-back best trick contest, set to the sounds of a live DJ and good vibes. Riders got to know the skatepark, connect, and warm up for the big day ahead.
The real action went down on Sunday, May 18th, with the official WRT contest featuring Grom and Rookie categories for both boys and girls. The riding level was on fire, and the judges had a tough job picking the winners.
In the Rookie division, 2023 World Rookie Champion Andres Martin proved once again why he’s a force to be reckoned with, taking home first place. He was followed by Maicol Fantini in second and Lorenzo Tommasini in third.
The Grom Boys podium saw Kevin Loi in first place, with Riccardo Gnocchi and Emanuele Pietroniro rounding out the top three.
In the Grom Girls, it was Irene Panzavolta who took the win, ahead of Matilde Solieri and Dora Gasperini.
The Best Trick session brought more heat with standout tricks including:
– Carlo Cravosio’s Varial Heelflip
– Riccardo Gnocchi’s Switch Heelflip
– Maicol Fantini’s Best Ollie
– Andres Martin’s 3flip Noseblunt
🏆 The top finishers in all Rookie and Grom categories — both boys and girls — qualified directly for the 2025 World Rookie Tour Skateboard Finals, to be held in Slovenia at the end of September.
And there’s more: the best overall boy and girl of the contest also won an all-inclusive ticket to the finals, including travel, accommodation, and entry fee!
