Transilvania Rookie Fest 2012 in Romania

The World Rookie Fest is crossing Europe and hitting Romania, with the upcoming Transilvania Rookie Fest in Arena Platos-Sibiu, from Jannuary 27th till 29th.

The 2nd edition of the Transilvania Rookie Fest is the only international youth freestyle snowboard competition hold in the Carpathian Mountains of Romania. Former ISF world champion Martin Freinademetz and owner of Arena Platos has build a slope style park in cooperation with Ninjaz Parkdesign and Romanian snowboard legend Andy Fazakas. The park has a length of 700 meters and includes 4 rails, 6 kickers, and one wall ride.

Transilvania Rookie Fest is part of the TTR snowboard World Tour. The TTR events are ranked with a one to 6 star ranking system. The competitors at this contest will be able to score points for the TTR world ranking list, a list where almost 5.000 snowboarders are ranked worldwide. Although riders can qualify for the WSF world rooky final where only the winners of the previous rooky event sand the top 20 of the world rooky tour ranking will be allowed to compete.

“The World Rookie Fest Tour is growing year after year and we are super happy to have now 2 stops in East Europe. It’s a great opportunity for riders to grow and make the progression upgrading too. Let’s see who will qualify for the big final in Ischgl!!” stated Meinhard Trojer from World Rookie Tour Committee.

The event in Arena Platos will assign 2 all-inclusive tickets for the 4Star Protest World Rookie Finals in Ischgl, Austria, from 11th to 15th of April 2012. In addition all riders on Rookie and Groom podiums, both boys and girls, will be qualified as well for the Protest World Rookie Finals. We are expecting some of the most talented young snowboarders from Europe. Riders from Austria, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Serbia, Slovakia have announced their apperance to battle togehther with the young romanian snowbord scene for prices in a value of 2.000 euros.

10:00 – 20:00 – riders registration in Apres Ski Arena Platos, you will get your start number, lift ticket, vouchers, etc. (From Sibiu drive direction Paltinis on DJ 106 A, aprox 30km, on the left side of the road you will see Arena Platos resort. GPS lat: 45.672603; long: 23.940024).

Free training in funpark: 10:00-12:00 , 13-15:00, 16:00-18:00 20:00-22:00, authorized riders only.

World Rookie Tour Rules

The title of World Rookie Champion will be awarded to the winner of the Protest World Rookie Finals reserved to the top riders from previous Rookie Fests, plus selected riders from National Snowboard Associations and the top 20 riders from the World Rookie Rank (rank at 30’th Of March 2012).
