The countdown is officially on. Registrations for the Groms Open Rookie Fest 2026 are closing soon, with the final deadline set for January 3, 2026. Young snowboarders who want to start the year with a true international Rookie experience still have a short window to secure their spot.
The event will take place on January 5–6, 2026, at PenkenPark in Mayrhofen, Austria, one of the most iconic freestyle parks in the Alps. Hosted in the Horberg ski area, shaped by the PenkenPark Crew, and operated by Mayrhofner Bergbahnen, the Groms Open Rookie Fest offers the perfect environment for rookies to gain contest experience, ride a top-level setup, and connect with the global World Rookie community.
Designed for young riders across different age categories, the Groms Open Rookie Fest focuses on progression, creativity, and learning how to perform in a real competition environment. From training sessions to finals, every moment is built to help riders grow, both on and off the snow.

The event opens on Monday, January 5, with a full training day at PenkenPark, allowing riders to get familiar with the course and dial in their runs. In the evening, the traditional Riders Meeting at the Edelweiss Lounge in Mayrhofen brings together athletes, coaches, and crew for pizza, billiards, and pure Rookie vibes. Tuesday, January 6, is contest day, with qualifications and finals deciding podiums and overall rankings.
Beyond medals, riders will earn ranking points for the World Rookie Tour, World Snowboard Tour and World Snowboard Federation. The overall winner will secure a direct ticket to the World Rookie Finals, where the best young riders of the season compete for the World Rookie Champion title. Premium prizes from Blue Tomato and TSG complete the prize pool.
The entry fee is 50 € per athlete. Lift passes are not included, but registered riders can access a discounted rate at the Horbergbahn Valley Station for event days. Helmets and protectors are mandatory.
