In the Rookie Boys division, Ukraine’s Dmytro Luchkin took the win with a strong performance, followed by Japan’s Nagiru Okoshi in second place and Finland’s Pyry Posio in third.
The Grom Boys podium saw Switzerland’s Norin Keller claim victory, with Japan’s Kenshin Miyazaki in second and Australia’s Riley Harpe in third.

Under solid conditions, riders from across the globe stepped up and threw down insane tricks, confirming once again that the future of snowboarding is already here. Huge amplitude, technical rotations and clean landings defined a contest where progression was the only rule.

Despite changing weather conditions that forced some schedule adjustments during the week, the event still delivered high-level action, major progression, and unforgettable performances from young riders coming from all over the world.
One of the biggest storylines came from the Rookie Men category, where Finland’s Kalle Palkinen completed an impressive comeback. After finishing third in 2025, he returned stronger and claimed the 2026 World Rookie Champion title thanks to a highly technical run featuring multiple double cork rotations and precise rail tricks. Italy’s Alex Putzer took second place, while Austria’s Leo Brucic finished third.
In the Grom Men category, Switzerland’s Neo Zingg grabbed the win with a powerful run that showed just how fast the level of the younger generation is rising. Italy’s Filippo Farina placed second, while Switzerland’s Antoni Grellet completed the podium in third.
The Grom Women contest once again highlighted the progression of women’s freeskiing. The World Rookie Snowboard Finals 2026 continue at Kitzsteinhorn Zell am See-Kaprun, but due to unfavorable weather conditions, the Big Air Finals have been officially postponed to ensure the best possible riding conditions and athlete safety.
The Big Air competition will now take place tomorrow March 24th, together with the Slopestyle Finals, promising a stacked day of high-level progression, heavy tricks, and next-gen talent going full send.
Originally scheduled earlier in the program, the Big Air Finals have been rescheduled to allow riders to compete in optimal conditions, maintaining the high standards that define the World Rookie Tour.
Looking ahead, the Rail Jam is now confirmed for March 25th, where riders will battle it out on technical features, showcasing style, creativity, and precision in one of the most anticipated formats of the week.
Every season, the World Rookie Snowboard Finals gather the best under-18 snowboarders from across the globe, all qualified through the international stops of the World Rookie Tour. After months of competitions across Europe, Asia, and North America, only the most talented riders make it to this stage.

On February 12, 2026, the Balkan Rookie Fest 2026 took over the slopes of Malyovitsa, Bulgaria, delivering one of the most exciting youth snowboard Slopestyle events of the World Rookie Tour season.
Hosted in the stunning setting of Malyovitsa, with panoramic views of the iconic peak, the event gathered the region’s most promising snowboard talents competing in the official World Rookie Tour categories: Groms and Rookies (boys and girls). The perfectly shaped Slopestyle course allowed riders to push their limits, throwing down stylish tricks, technical rail lines, and clean landings under bluebird conditions.
The Balkan Rookie Fest has become a crucial stop for young snowboarders aiming to qualify for the World Rookie Tour Finals. This year’s edition confirmed its importance once again. Among the standout performances were Boroboard athletes Radostina Slavova and Deyan Sivilov, who secured their qualification for the World Rookie Tour Finals in Kaprun. Their results represent a major milestone, placing Bulgaria firmly on the international rookie snowboard map.
The event was organized by Snowboard Club Boroboard in collaboration with Malyovitsa Ski and the Municipality of Samokov. Their ongoing commitment to youth snowboard development continues to strengthen the Balkan snowboard scene and create real international pathways for the next generation.

As the Road to the Finals continues, the Balkan Rookie Fest stands as a key platform for young snowboarders across Eastern Europe, offering international visibility, competitive experience, and memories that will last far beyond this season.
The eighth edition of the Innsbruck Rookie Fest was ready to open a new chapter. For the first time, Snowboard Slopestyle was officially added to the program alongside Freeski, marking an important step forward for one of the most iconic stops on the tour. But the mountains had a different plan.
Just days before the competitions, winter returned to Tyrol with heavy snowfall and increased avalanche risk. While the fresh snow created a true alpine atmosphere, it also forced the organising team to rethink the schedule. The Nordkette Skyline Park crew worked non-stop to manage the massive snowfall and prepare the setup, but despite their efforts, the planned slopestyle competitions had to be cancelled due to safety reasons.
For the many registered snowboarders and freeskiers born in 2008 or later, it was a lesson in patience and adaptability: two qualities every rider needs in the mountains.
The weekend still delivered a major highlight with the Snowboard Women’s Big Air contest, organised as an alternative competition. Under challenging weather conditions, the riders stepped up and showcased determination, style and technical skills on the jump.
Fifteen-year-old Italian rider Nicole Bazzanella claimed victory with a solid and confident performance. Sweden’s Bianca Linnes secured second place, while Hungary’s Janka Gaspar completed the international podium in third. Thanks to these results, all three riders earned their qualification for the prestigious World Rookie Tour Snowboard Finals, taking a decisive step toward the top level of youth freestyle competition.
As part of the globally recognised World Rookie Tour, the Innsbruck Rookie Fest continues to offer young athletes a platform to grow, compete and move closer to professional sport. Even with weather challenges reshaping the program, the event once again proved that the next generation of freestyle riders is ready for the future.

On February 22nd, 2025,Snowpark Jasná became the heart of freestyle riding during the Snowboard & Freeski Slovakia Rookie Fest, an official stop of the World Rookie Tour. A total of 34 riders from Slovakia, Poland, Czech Republic, Romania and the United States gathered in the biggest Slovak snowpark to showcase their best tricks in perfect weather and a vibrant atmosphere.
Despite initial difficulties with the ski lifts that required a short postponement and a reduced course, the competition delivered high-level action. Jasná prepared a slopestyle setup shaped by local builders, and although the final race course had to be shortened to one 5-meter jump and two rail platforms, riders still pushed their limits and showcased impressive technical skills.

After a full winter of Rookie Fests and international qualifiers across Europe, North America and Japan, the best young snowboarders on the planet are ready to drop in on the glacier for the ultimate showdown of the season. Kaprun is not just another stop — it’s the Grand Final, where Groms and Rookies battle for the prestigious titles in Slopestyle, Big Air and Rail.
Only qualified riders will earn their spot at the Finals. The event is open to male and female athletes born on or after January 1st, 2008, competing in the Rookie (2008–2010) and Grom (2011 and later) categories. Qualification is based on the official World Rookie Rank, with the top-ranked riders securing their place, alongside national quota selections and automatic qualifiers from previous events.
The entry fee is €100 for one discipline, €140 for two disciplines and €160 for three disciplines. Lift tickets (March 22–27) and official accommodation packages must be booked through the same platform. Accommodation starts from €72 per night per person (half board).
Winning in Kaprun means more than standing on the podium. Champions earn the title of World Rookie Snowboard Champion and enter the World Rookie Tour Hall of Fame, joining a legacy that has helped launch international snowboard careers. The 2026 World Rookie Freeski Finals will feature a Freeski Slopestyle competition (FIS Junior event) alongside a Rail Contest, both hosted exclusively on the progressive L Line of Ursus Snowpark. Known for its perfectly shaped kickers and safe yet technical setup, the park allows riders to push their limits while maintaining high competitive standards.
The event represents the most important stop of the World Rookie Tour season. Only the best qualified Grom and Rookie freeskiers from around the world earn their place at the Finals. The schedule starts on Friday, February 20th, 2026, with unofficial training (8:30–15:30) and the Online Coaches & Riders Meeting at 19:30.
The main event unfolds on Saturday, February 21st. Riders will complete registration (8:30–10:00) and inspection (8:30–8:50) before entering official training (8:50–11:15). Qualifications will run from 11:30 to 13:30, followed by Finals from 14:00 to 15:00 and the Prize Giving Ceremony at 15:30. The final detailed program will be confirmed during the Riders Meeting.

The World Rookie Tour is heading back to Hungary for the Hungarian World Rookie Fest 2026, set to take place from February 26 to March 1, 2026, at Skipark Mátraszentistván. Located in one of Hungary’s most traditional mountain areas, this event confirms its role as a key Eastern European stop for the next generation of freestyle snowboarders.
The competition will run in Slopestyle format, with slope number 5 partially reserved for the event and shaped by the Snowboard Hungary Crew. The setup is designed to support progression, consistency and clean execution. The event is open to Rookies (born 2008–2010) and Groms (born 2011 and later), both women and men. All results will count toward the World Rookie Rank, and all podium riders will earn direct qualification for the 2026 World Rookie Finals in Kaprun, Austria.
The overall best girl and best boy will receive all-inclusive tickets to the World Rookie Finals, while the best Hungarian rider will secure a national qualification spot. All registered athletes will also receive a goodie bag from the event partners.

March 1, 2026 – Hungarian National Championships Hungarian Slopestyle Championships, including FIS Nationals, with qualifications and finals.
Registrations are open via LiveHeats or through National Federations. The registration deadline is February 23, 2026, with an entry fee of 25 EUR or 8000 HUF. The nearest international airport is Budapest, around 113 km from the resort.
The Ogau Rookie Fest 2026 is set to go down from February 19th to 21st, 2026, in Oberammergau, Germany, bringing snowboarders and freeskier rookies back to one of the most solid rail stops on the winter calendar. Hosted at Snowpark Oberammergau, the event confirms its role as a key meeting point for young riders focused on progression, style and competitive experience.
Part of the World Rookie Tour and run in cooperation with the Junior Freestyle Tour, the Ogau Rookie Fest combines an international contest atmosphere with a compact, rider-friendly setup designed to push technical rail riding in a safe and progressive environment. The park will be shaped by the local Oberammergau Snowpark Crew, ensuring creative lines and consistent conditions throughout the event.
The action starts on Thursday, February 19th, with the Riders Office opening, official training sessions and the first coach meeting. On Friday, February 20th, the spotlight is on the Freeski Rail Contest, followed by prize giving and snowboard training in the afternoon. The day will close with the Blue Tomato BBQ Night, a classic social moment where riders, coaches and crew come together off the rails. Saturday, February 21st, is dedicated to the Snowboard Rail Contest, wrapping up with the final prize giving.
The competition is open to Rookies (born 2008–2010), Groms (2011–2013) and Super Groms (2014 and later), female and male. All results will count toward the World Rookie Rank, while points will also be awarded for the Junior Freestyle Tour ranking.

Everything is set for the Balkan Rookie Fest 2026, taking place this weekend at the Malyovitsa Ski Center, as the World Rookie Tour returns to Bulgaria with one of the key snowboard events of the winter season. Official activities kick off on Wednesday, 11 February, with riders on snow for training, followed by the full competition day on Thursday, 12 February 2026.
This event represents an important step for freestyle snowboarding in the region. The Balkan Rookie Fest will take place at the brand-new Fun Park Malyovitsa, built on the historic Mecha Polyana slope, an area deeply connected to Bulgarian alpine tradition. With the opening of this new park, Malyovitsa officially enters the freestyle scene, offering young athletes a modern playground designed for progression, creativity, and safe performance.
The slopestyle and rail setup has been carefully shaped according to international safety and competition standards. The course is designed to reward clean execution, technical control, and smart line choice, giving rookies and groms the chance to compete on a balanced layout in a true alpine environment.
Top 3 riders in each category will earn a direct qualification to the World Rookie Snowboard Finals 2026 in Kaprun, Austria, where the best young snowboarders from around the world will compete at the end of the season.
Podium riders will also receive products and prizes from tour partners Blue Tomato, TSG, and Contrabanda.bg, confirming the importance of this stop within the World Rookie Tour calendar. Entry fees are set at 20 EUR per athlete, payable in cash on site, plus a 20 EUR BIP deposit, also payable in cash and refunded upon return of the bib. Lift access on competition days will be free of charge for all officially registered athletes and coaches, ensuring a smooth and rider-focused event experience.
Where competition, progression and community came together
The Ursus Rookie Fest has officially wrapped up in Madonna di Campiglio (Trentino), delivering a compact but high-impact stop of the World Rookie Tour in the heart of the Dolomites. Originally planned over multiple competition days, the event program was reshaped by challenging weather conditions, with heavy snowfall and limited visibility requiring a flexible and responsive approach from the organisation.
Due to adverse weather, the official competition was held over two days, prioritising quality over quantity. Riders competed across Grom and Rookie categories in demanding alpine conditions that rewarded smart decision-making, clean execution and consistency. The Ursus Snowpark slopestyle setup proved to be progressive and well-balanced, allowing athletes to push their level while maintaining control—key elements in long-term rider development.
The women’s competitions immediately set a high standard. In the Grom Women category, France’s Aurélia Liegeard claimed victory with a confident and composed performance, followed by Italy’s Arianna Ballardini in second place and New Zealand’s Charlee Hill in third.
The Rookie Women’s competition confirmed an impressive technical level. Taking the win, Mariia Nikolskaia delivered a standout performance with a winning run featuring a cab 900 tail grab into a back double 1080 mute, a combination that clearly demonstrated confidence, control and progression at this stage of development. She was joined on the podium by Anna Tomanová from the Czech Republic in second place and France’s Norah Scott Labbè in third, highlighting the strong international depth of the category.
The men’s competitions delivered equally strong performances. In the Grom Men category, Australia’s Hartley Zietsch secured first place after a focused and consistent contest, with Italy’s Valter Panzeri finishing second and Finland’s Ukko Raatikainen taking third.

The Rookie Men’s final underlined the very high level of progression on display throughout the event. Taking the win, Pyry Posio delivered a technically demanding and well-executed performance with a winning run featuring a switch backside Weddle 1260 into a frontside 1260, followed by a switch board-under flip 630 out into a switch backside 270 in pull-back. A run that showcased control, amplitude and consistency under challenging conditions. France’s Lenny Collomb Paton secured second place, while Australia’s James Garth completed the podium in third, confirming the strong international level of the field.

For many athletes, the results achieved in Madonna di Campiglio translated into valuable points not only for the World Rookie Tour ranking but also for the WSPL and FIS classifications, reinforcing the sporting relevance of the Ursus Rookie Fest within the international competition pathway.
Across all categories, team performance also played a key role. Thanks to consistent results and strong depth throughout the event, the Best Team award was claimed by Finland, confirming the strength of its development system and its growing impact on the international rookie snowboard scene
When weather conditions made further competition impossible, the event shifted direction without losing momentum. Taking advantage of the significant snowfall, the organisation added a dedicated backcountry day, bringing together rookies and local riders for a shared mountain experience. This day focused on riding, safety awareness and mountain culture, offering a different but equally meaningful form of progression beyond the contest format
Off snow, the Ursus Rookie Fest continued to reflect the broader values of the World Rookie Tour. During the event, riders took part in a special inclusive art workshop led by photographer and artist Ania Grzelka, together with young participants from the Sereno Variabilegroup of the Gamma community based in Cremona (Italy). Starting from clean skateboard decks, participants worked side by side, transforming them into unique pieces of art and sharing an experience that went beyond sport, competition and results.
With competition, backcountry riding and creative exchange all coming together, the Ursus Rookie Fest once again proved to be more than just a contest. It delivered a complete experience where performance, personal growth and community coexist. Confirming Madonna di Campiglio as one of the most meaningful stops on the World Rookie Tour calendar and setting the tone for the rest of the season.
The X-Jam Rookie 2026 represents the final opportunity in Japan to qualify for the World Rookie Finals. Scheduled for February 25, 2026, at X-Jam in Nagano, this crucial stop is once again part of the PSA-Asia Tour, closing the Japanese chapter of the Road to the World Rookie Finals.
X-Jam is a legendary venue in Japanese snowboarding. Its roots go back to the Nagano 1998 Winter Olympics, a milestone moment that helped shape the country’s winter sports culture. Over the years, the resort evolved from traditional snowboard disciplines into one of Japan’s most respected Slopestyle parks. Formerly known as Takaifuji(“Higher Fuji”), X-Jam has long been recognized as a place where freestyle progression meets competitive intensity.
This event is all about last chances. For rookies and groms, there is no margin for hesitation. X-Jam Rookie 2026 is the final PSA-Asia Tour stop in Japan, meaning it’s the last moment to secure valuable points, podiums, and a direct pathway to the World Rookie Finals. Expect high pressure, focused riding, smart trick selection, and full commitment from every athlete dropping in.
The competition is open to Snowboard Slopestyle athletes in the Rookies and Groms categories, men and women. Washigatake Rookie Fest is deeply rooted in Japanese snowboard history.
