World Rookie Skateboard Finals successfully completed

Mystic Sk8 Park, Štvanice Island, Prague, CZE, 07. Oct. 2023

Mystic Sk8 Park in Prague, Czech Republic, welcomed 80 young skaters from 20 nations from all over the world, with teams representing Europe, Asia, America, Oceania and, for the first time in WRT Sk8 Finals, Africa. After a season of qualifying events all around the countries, the 2023 World Rookie Skateboard Finals welcomed the energies and the positive vibes of tomorrow’s stars and offered all participants an immersive experience in the skateboard culture.

The event took place in a great international scenario: Mystic Skatepark is an iconic location on an island surrounded by river Vltava where the legendary Mystic Sk8 Cup started at the beginning of this century. The park is located in the middle of the beautiful city of Prague which, with its cultural and artistic attractions, offers riders and crew a unique travel and lifestyle experience.

Andres Martin Gramaglia Fusconi – 2023 World Rookie Champion

The skateboarders showcased an extremely high level of riding during a full day of qualification and finals and they competed for World Rookie Champions titles and tickets to world-class events such as Mystic Sk8 Cup and Simple Session.

In the Female category, British ripper Abbie Nicole Burns resulted the best in the comp and conquered the 2023 World Rookie Champion title. At only 14 years old, Abbie is the youngest WRT Skateboard Champion we ever had. Laura Zackova from the Czech Republic and Florence Ulrich Adcocks from Germany completed the female podium.

Girl Podium:first place Abbie Nicole Burns (GBR), second place Laura Zackova (CZE) and third place Florence Ulrich Adcocks (GER)

In the Grom Male division for under 14 years old riders, French rising star Axel Van Cuyck conquered the World Grom Champion Title, followed on the podium by Jesse Kloes (GER) and Mussie Michael (ERI).

Grom Podium: first place Axel Van Cuyck (FRA), second place Jesse Kloes (GER) and third place Mussie Michael (ERI)

In the top division of the event, the 15-19 years old rookies, we watched an amazing battle for the podium. With tons of “Italian Style” and very technical lines, Andres Martin Gramaglia Fusconi won the event and was crowned the 2023 World Rookie Champion. At only 0.3 points behind Rocco Mueller (SUI) got second place while the third position was conquered on his very last run by Gabriele Fabi from Rome, Italy.

Rookie Podium: first place Andres Martin Gramaglia Fusconi (ITA), second place Rocco Mueller (SUI) and third place Gabriele Fabi (ITA).

The competition was great but the World Rookie Skateboard Final was not only focused on the competitive side of skateboarding. In fact, the program also featured a lot of lifestyle activities to offer a unique experience to everybody: GummyLove “safe sex workshops”, social dinners, street sessions and an exclusive “Meet & Shred” session at Maxplace skatepark with local skateboard hero Maxim Habanec.

Sea&Ride Rookie Fest: Report from Bulgaria

So the World Rookie Tour reached Bulgaria, on the shores of the Black Sea, in the beautiful resort town of Tsarevo, where, hidden under the shade of centuries-old trees, is the X challenge park. A place created with love for extreme sports, contact with nature and an atmosphere that will make you feel at home.

Together with TRS studio, the boys and girls from X-challenge tried to make all visitors feel the experience and  the unique atmosphere of the World Rookie Tour.

On the first day, Chris Dragoshinov from BOARD LAB held a free workshop for beginners and advanced skaters. Within 2 hours, the youngest were able to take their first steps on a skateboard, and the more advanced ones cleared different elements of their ride.

The next day was the park competition in the famous X-Challenge pool. The local talents showed enviable self-confidence and skills, but above all was Diyan Petkov from Burgas, who showed class and deservedly goes to the finals in Prague.

Zivodar Chakarov from Burgas came second, and 8-year-old Viktor Petsov from Varna came third.

On the third day of the impromptu street course set up by Event Chief Judge – Balázs Györki from Hungary, the atmosphere was once again high, with the music from the Red Bull car fueling the competitors further. Again, everyone gave it their all and perhaps not coincidentally, the ranking from the pool was repeated in the street race. In this way, Zivodar from Burgas grabbed the second ticket to the finals in Prague and together with Dido will represent Bulgaria there.

Apart from them, the organizers decided to finance a 3rd ticket to the finals, for the only girl who dared to ride in the pool and on the concrete in Tsarevo, and that is Tsvetelina Hristova from Sofia. Tsveti showed great riding in the pool and won the hearts of the judges and the audience.

With that, the 3-day SEA & RIDE summer festival has come to an end. And what we didn’t say is that in addition to skating, during these 3 days there was also a lot of surfing, SUP, beaches, parties and only positive emotions.

Bulgaria places 2 boys and 1 girl in the finals in Prague, and the World Tour continues its journey to the next stop!

Buckle up as we take you on a wild ride through all the heart-stopping action, jaw-dropping tricks, and sensational prizes that unfolded in the vibrant city of Prague!

A Legendary Gathering of Titans

When it comes to showcasing raw talent, adrenaline-fueled stunts, and unparalleled determination, the WRT finals take center stage. This year, athletes from not one, not two, but four different countries descended upon Prague, igniting the streets with their passion and energy. Picture a fierce battlefield where skateboard wheels hit the pavement like thunder, BMX riders defy gravity with each jump, and scooters zip through the air like rockets. It was an electrifying display of sheer athleticism and indomitable spirit.

The Prize Bonanza

But wait, there’s more! The excitement wasn’t confined to just the battles on the ramps and rails. Our partners turned up the heat by offering a treasure trove of prizes that could make anyone’s heart race. Let’s give a round of applause to these trailblazers:

  • @captureHEROes (GoPro Romania): The ultimate champions of each category walked away with a stunning GoPro 11 Black camera, capturing their victories in breathtaking detail. And that’s not all – even the second and third place winners scored amazing accessories from GoPro, ensuring they’re always ready to capture the action, no matter where they are.

Battle Amidst Blazing Heat

Now, imagine the scorching sun beating down, intensifying the challenge for these fearless athletes. The event kicked off with a bang on the first day, where young riders took to the streets for an exhilarating session. Crazy pics were the order of the day – every trick, every jump, captured in freeze-frame, forever etched in the annals of extreme sports history.

The Ultimate Showdown

As the temperature soared, so did the stakes. The contest day brought a relentless showdown, starting with not one, but two intense qualifying runs. Athletes pushed their limits, executing gravity-defying tricks and showing off their unique styles. And if you thought that was the climax, think again. The final round was a mind-blowing spectacle, where only the best of the best advanced to showcase their prowess.

But that’s not all – there was a twist in the tale. A “best trick” session emerged, pushing athletes to pull out their most daring moves yet. It was a display of creativity, courage, and absolute determination to leave their mark on the event’s history.
