Around 60 riders from eight countries: China, Russia, USA, France, Germany, Sweden, Japan and South Korea — dropped in, turning the slopestyle course into a global playground.
In the Pro division, Brian Peter Gardiner (USA) claimed the men’s title with a composed and technical performance, while Lisa Karoline Zimmermann (GER) took the win in the women’s field, showing style and consistency under pressure.

The perfectly shaped Slopestyle course allowed riders to push their limits, throwing down stylish tricks, technical rail lines, and clean landings under bluebird conditions.
The Balkan Rookie Fest has become a crucial stop for young snowboarders aiming to qualify for the World Rookie Tour Finals. This year’s edition confirmed its importance once again. Among the standout performances were Boroboard athletes Radostina Slavova and Deyan Sivilov, who secured their qualification for the World Rookie Tour Finals in Kaprun. Their results represent a major milestone, placing Bulgaria firmly on the international rookie snowboard map.
The event was organized by Snowboard Club Boroboard in collaboration with Malyovitsa Ski and the Municipality of Samokov. Their ongoing commitment to youth snowboard development continues to strengthen the Balkan snowboard scene and create real international pathways for the next generation.

On February 22nd, 2025,Snowpark Jasná became the heart of freestyle riding during the Snowboard & Freeski Slovakia Rookie Fest, an official stop of the World Rookie Tour. A total of 34 riders from Slovakia, Poland, Czech Republic, Romania and the United States gathered in the biggest Slovak snowpark to showcase their best tricks in perfect weather and a vibrant atmosphere.
Despite initial difficulties with the ski lifts that required a short postponement and a reduced course, the competition delivered high-level action. Jasná prepared a slopestyle setup shaped by local builders, and although the final race course had to be shortened to one 5-meter jump and two rail platforms, riders still pushed their limits and showcased impressive technical skills.

In Snowboard Slopestyle, the Rookie Men category saw Peter Stano (SVK) take the win ahead of Jakub Kováčik (SVK) in second place and Michal Antol (SVK) in third.
In the Rookie Women category, Ella Gorcsosova (SVK) claimed victory, followed by Sara Zvadova (CZE) in second and Paulina Gołoś (POL) in third.

After a full winter of Rookie Fests and international qualifiers across Europe, North America and Japan, the best young snowboarders on the planet are ready to drop in on the glacier for the ultimate showdown of the season. Kaprun is not just another stop — it’s the Grand Final, where Groms and Rookies battle for the prestigious titles in Slopestyle, Big Air and Rail.
Only qualified riders will earn their spot at the Finals. The event is open to male and female athletes born on or after January 1st, 2008, competing in the Rookie (2008–2010) and Grom (2011 and later) categories. Qualification is based on the official World Rookie Rank, with the top-ranked riders securing their place, alongside national quota selections and automatic qualifiers from previous events.
The entry fee is €100 for one discipline, €140 for two disciplines and €160 for three disciplines. Lift tickets (March 22–27) and official accommodation packages must be booked through the same platform. Accommodation starts from €72 per night per person (half board).
Winning in Kaprun means more than standing on the podium. Champions earn the title of World Rookie Snowboard Champion and enter the World Rookie Tour Hall of Fame, joining a legacy that has helped launch international snowboard careers. The 2026 World Rookie Freeski Finals will feature a Freeski Slopestyle competition (FIS Junior event) alongside a Rail Contest, both hosted exclusively on the progressive L Line of Ursus Snowpark. Known for its perfectly shaped kickers and safe yet technical setup, the park allows riders to push their limits while maintaining high competitive standards.
The event represents the most important stop of the World Rookie Tour season. Only the best qualified Grom and Rookie freeskiers from around the world earn their place at the Finals. The main event unfolds on Saturday, February 21st. Riders will complete registration (8:30–10:00) and inspection (8:30–8:50) before entering official training (8:50–11:15). Qualifications will run from 11:30 to 13:30, followed by Finals from 14:00 to 15:00 and the Prize Giving Ceremony at 15:30. The final detailed program will be confirmed during the Riders Meeting.

All results will count toward the World Rookie Rank, and all podium riders will earn direct qualification for the 2026 World Rookie Finals in Kaprun, Austria.
The overall best girl and best boy will receive all-inclusive tickets to the World Rookie Finals, while the best Hungarian rider will secure a national qualification spot. All registered athletes will also receive a goodie bag from the event partners.

The Ursus Rookie Fest has officially wrapped up in Madonna di Campiglio (Trentino), delivering a compact but high-impact stop of the World Rookie Tour in the heart of the Dolomites. Originally planned over multiple competition days, the event program was reshaped by challenging weather conditions, with heavy snowfall and limited visibility requiring a flexible and responsive approach from the organisation.
Due to adverse weather, the official competition was held over two days, prioritising quality over quantity. Riders competed across Grom and Rookie categories in demanding alpine conditions that rewarded smart decision-making, clean execution and consistency. The Ursus Snowpark slopestyle setup proved to be progressive and well-balanced, allowing athletes to push their level while maintaining control—key elements in long-term rider development.
The women’s competitions immediately set a high standard. In the Grom Women category, France’s Aurélia Liegeard claimed victory with a confident and composed performance, followed by Italy’s Arianna Ballardini in second place and New Zealand’s Charlee Hill in third.
The Rookie Women’s competition confirmed an impressive technical level. Taking the win, Mariia Nikolskaia delivered a standout performance with a winning run featuring a cab 900 tail grab into a back double 1080 mute, a combination that clearly demonstrated confidence, control and progression at this stage of development. She was joined on the podium by Anna Tomanová from the Czech Republic in second place and France’s Norah Scott Labbè in third, highlighting the strong international depth of the category.
The men’s competitions delivered equally strong performances. In the Grom Men category, Australia’s Hartley Zietsch secured first place after a focused and consistent contest, with Italy’s Valter Panzeri finishing second and Finland’s Ukko Raatikainen taking third.

Taking the win, Pyry Posio delivered a technically demanding and well-executed performance with a winning run featuring a switch backside Weddle 1260 into a frontside 1260, followed by a switch board-under flip 630 out into a switch backside 270 in pull-back. A run that showcased control, amplitude and consistency under challenging conditions. France’s Lenny Collomb Paton secured second place, while Australia’s James Garth completed the podium in third, confirming the strong international level of the field.

Taking advantage of the significant snowfall, the organisation added a dedicated backcountry day, bringing together rookies and local riders for a shared mountain experience. This day focused on riding, safety awareness and mountain culture, offering a different but equally meaningful form of progression beyond the contest format
Off snow, the Ursus Rookie Fest continued to reflect the broader values of the World Rookie Tour. During the event, riders took part in a special inclusive art workshop led by photographer and artist Ania Grzelka, together with young participants from the Sereno Variabilegroup of the Gamma community based in Cremona (Italy). Starting from clean skateboard decks, participants worked side by side, transforming them into unique pieces of art and sharing an experience that went beyond sport, competition and results.
With competition, backcountry riding and creative exchange all coming together, the Ursus Rookie Fest once again proved to be more than just a contest. It delivered a complete experience where performance, personal growth and community coexist. X-Jam is a legendary venue in Japanese snowboarding. Its roots go back to the Nagano 1998 Winter Olympics, a milestone moment that helped shape the country’s winter sports culture. Over the years, the resort evolved from traditional snowboard disciplines into one of Japan’s most respected Slopestyle parks. Formerly known as Takaifuji(“Higher Fuji”), X-Jam has long been recognized as a place where freestyle progression meets competitive intensity.
This event is all about last chances. For rookies and groms, there is no margin for hesitation. X-Jam Rookie 2026 is the final PSA-Asia Tour stop in Japan, meaning it’s the last moment to secure valuable points, podiums, and a direct pathway to the World Rookie Finals. Washigatake Rookie Fest is deeply rooted in Japanese snowboard history. Riders who are now established on the international stage, such as Kokomo Murase and Hiroto Ogiwara, took some of their first competitive steps right here. The competition features Snowboard Slopestyle and is open to Rookies and Groms, both men and women. Snowboard Slopestyle makes its debut at the Innsbruck Rookie Fest
Registrations are officially open for the Innsbruck Rookie Fest, set to return from February 20th to 22nd, 2026, at the iconic Nordkette Skyline Park, high above the city of Innsbruck. Now in its 8th edition, the event marks a major step forward in the evolution of the World Rookie Tour.
The big news for 2026 is clear: for the first time in its history, Snowboard Slopestyle officially joins the Innsbruck Rookie Fest. After years as a key reference point for freeski progression, the event opens its start gate to snowboarders, transforming Innsbruck into a true dual-discipline World Rookie Tour stop. A milestone moment that expands the event’s vision and brings new energy to one of the most iconic freestyle venues in the Alps.
Riders will drop into a slopestyle course overlooking the Innsbruck skyline, set in a unique alpine environment above the city. The Nordkette Skyline Park is internationally known for its dramatic setting and progressive terrain, shaped by the experienced Skyline Park Shaping Crew to support safe progression, creative lines and confident riding. Both freeskiers and snowboarders will face a high-level contest setup designed to challenge young athletes while keeping progression at the core.
The Innsbruck Rookie Fest 2026 is not just about podiums. Qualification tickets for the World Rookie Finals will be awarded in both Freeski and Snowboard, making Innsbruck a decisive stop for riders aiming to continue their journey on the international rookie stage. For Austrian athletes, the event also represents an important opportunity to compete for their National Junior Champion titles in Slopestyle.
The competition is open to Rookies (born 2008–2010) and Groms (born 2011 and younger), men and women, and will be held under FIS NYC rules, with WSF/FIS certified judges ensuring professional and consistent evaluation.
With Snowboard Slopestyle making its debut and Finals tickets on the line for both disciplines, the Innsbruck Rookie Fest 2026 is set to be one of the most exciting and forward-looking stops of the World Rookie Tour winter season.

An intense and exciting day unfolded at the Ursus Rookie Fest, as the Boys Finals officially went down at the Ursus Snowpark. Both Grom Boys and Rookie Boys categories dropped in, delivering a full day of high-level snowboarding and confirming the strong momentum of this year’s edition.
From the first runs of the morning, the focus was clear: stay solid, manage pressure and put down clean lines when it mattered most. The finals highlighted the depth of talent across both categories, with riders showing confidence, control and a strong understanding of the park setup.

In the Grom Boys finals, the competition stayed tight until the very end. Hartley Zietsh (AUS) took the win with a composed and well-executed performance, standing out for consistency and control under pressure. Valter Pazeri (ITA) followed closely in second place, delivering a strong final run that kept the fight open until the last drops. Ukko Raaitikainen (FIN) finished third on the podium, confirming a solid performance and the high potential already visible at Grom level.
Groms Boys Podium
The level stepped up even further during the Rookie Boys finals, where experience and technical awareness played a key role. Pyro Posio (FIN) claimed the top spot with a convincing run, setting the benchmark for the category and showing maturity throughout the final phase of the competition. Lenny Collomb Paton (FRA) secured second place after a focused and competitive performance, while James Garth (AUS) rounded out the podium in third place, closing a final that showcased the depth and competitiveness of the Rookie field.

The Boys Finals once again confirmed the role of the Ursus Rookie Fest as a key stop within the World Rookie Tourcalendar, where young riders can test themselves in a real competitive environment and take meaningful steps forward in their progression.
With the Boys Finals now wrapped up, the event continues to deliver strong riding, international energy and that unmistakable World Rookie Tour atmosphere in the heart of Madonna di Campiglio.
Due to adverse weather forecasts, the program of the Ursus Rookie Fest has been adjusted to ensure safe conditions and the best possible setup for all riders. The decision was taken in line with the World Rookie Tour philosophy, always putting athlete safety and quality riding first.
As a result, Monday, January 26, was dedicated to the girls’ competition, officially opening the event week in Madonna di Campiglio. Despite challenging weather conditions, Grom Girls and Rookie Girls delivered focused and solid performances, confirming the high level of the event and the constant progression of the young snowboard generation.
In the Grom Girls category, Aurélia Liegeard(FRA) claimed first place with a confident and controlled run. Arianna Ballardini (ITA) secured second place, while Charlee Hill (NZL) completed the podium in third position. Clean execution, smart trick choices and consistency defined the final rankings.

The Rookie Girls category saw Mariia Nikolskaia (RUS) take the win after a composed and technically solid performance. Anna Tomanova(CZE) finished in second place, followed by Norah Scott Labbè (FRA) in third. The Rookie final set a strong benchmark for the rest of the competition week.

All competitions took place at the Ursus Snowpark, one of the key freestyle snowparks in the Dolomites, offering a progressive and technical setup even in changing conditions.
In the afternoon, the focus shifted from competition to creativity and inclusion. Riders took part in a special inclusive art workshop led by photographer and artist Ania Grzelka, together with young participants from the Comunità Gamma di Cremona. Starting from clean skateboard decks, participants worked side by side, transforming them into unique pieces of art and sharing a meaningful experience beyond sport.
Today it’s boys’ turn. Grom Boys and Rookie Boys are ready to drop in and keep the Ursus Rookie Fest 2026 rolling.
During the 2025–2026 winter season, the 10th Nanshan Freeski Open will take place from January 23 to 25, 2026, at Nanshan Resort, confirming its position as one of Asia’s leading freeski slopestyle events. Founded in 2015 by Nanshan Resort, the competition has grown steadily over the years, maintaining high standards and earning recognition as an AFP Gold Medal event in Asia.
Across nine successful editions, the Nanshan Freeski Open has welcomed more than 50 world-class athletes from over 10 countries, including the United States, France, New Zealand, Italy, and Japan. The event has built a strong international reputation, consistently attracting experienced riders and emerging talents to Beijing.
The 2026 edition marks a major milestone, celebrating ten years of competition and progression. Athletes will compete on a dedicated slopestyle course, designed to reward creativity, control, and technical execution. The event is open to Adult and Junior categories, creating space for both established competitors and the next generation of freeskiers.
Beyond the contest itself, the Nanshan Freeski Open supports the long-term growth of freestyle skiing in China. Since 2018, its Youth Training Support Program has helped develop new talent, and in 2024 the event was named one of Beijing’s Top 10 Sporting Events, highlighting its impact on the national freestyle scene.

Participation in the event is highly accessible: entry is free, all registered athletes receive free lift tickets for all three event days, while accommodation must be booked independently. Prizes include skis, helmets, goggles, and ski apparel, with prize money to be announced.
The first-ever World Rookie Tour rail-focused journey across Europe officially came to an end from December 19 to 21 at Snowfest The Hague, closing the 2025 Rock A Rail Ski & Snowboard Tour in the city where this iconic urban format was born in 2011. The fifth and final stop marked the conclusion of a highly successful third season and confirmed the strength of street-style freestyle within the WRT ecosystem.
Across three days, The Hague delivered packed crowds, creative urban setups and high-level riding. The largest setup of the entire tour pushed snowboarders and freeskiers to combine technical rail tricks, gaps and original lines, transforming the city into a true street freestyle playground.
In the snowboard competition, Katja Dutu (NED) secured her first Rock A Rail victory in the women’s category, landing a backside lipslide pretzel out to claim the Best Trick Award. Mia Langridge (GBR) followed in second place, continuing a remarkably consistent season, while local rider Rachida Aoulad (NED) completed the podium. In the men’s event, Botond Fricz (HUN) earned his first Rock A Rail win, ahead of Oscar Mattart (FRA) in second and Joewen Frijns (BEL) in third.
The ski competition set the pace early in the weekend. Hannah Langes (AUT) dominated the women’s final, followed by Alais Develay (FRA) and Ellen Damsgaard (DEN). In the men’s final, Joey van der Meer (NED) made history as the first Dutch freeskier to win a Rock A Rail on home soil, ahead of Tyler Nicholls-Stubbington (IRL) and Juho Saastamoinen (FIN).

The Ursus Rookie Fest is getting closer and is shaping up to be one of the most rewarding snowboard events of the 2026 winter season. From January 25 to 29, 2026, young snowboarders will compete in Madonna di Campiglio, riding in the spectacular Ursus Snowpark, widely regarded as one of the top snow parks in the Alps.
This event marks a historic first for the World Rookie Tour: it is the first time that WRT brings snowboarders to Madonna di Campiglio. After several seasons in which only freeskiers had the chance to experience this iconic venue, it is finally time for snowboarders to drop into Ursus Snowpark and make it their own.
The entire competition will take place exclusively on the L Line, a progressive slopestyle setup designed for clean takeoffs, smooth landings, and safe progression. Shaped to international standards, the L Line offers the ideal environment for high-level rookie competition and skill development.
Beyond the venue, Ursus Rookie Fest stands out for what is at stake. All riders stepping onto the podium will earn direct access to the World Rookie Snowboard Finals, scheduled in Austria at the end of March. In addition, the Best Man and Best Woman of the event will receive an all-inclusive ticket to the Finals, including accommodation, skipass and entry fee fully covered.
The prize pool goes even further. Rookie Men and Rookie Women podium winners will also be awarded a Surf Camp experience by Surf To Live, extending the competitive journey beyond winter. Podium athletes will additionally receive prize packages from event partners Moving CMP, Blue Tomato, and TSG, reinforcing the World Rookie Tour’s action sports ecosystem.
