Registrations Open for the Garda Rookie Fest Skateboard Contest 2026

The World Rookie Tour is heading to Italy for one of the most exciting stops of the 2026 skateboarding season. From September 11th to 13th, the brand-new Garda Rookie Fest will take place at Go Fast Skatepark in Riva del Garda, bringing together the next generation of skateboarders for a weekend of progression, competition and community.

The event is open to male and female riders in two age categories:

  • Rookie: born between January 1st, 2007 and December 31st, 2010
  • Grom: born after January 1st, 2011

All athletes must compete in the category corresponding to their year of birth.

The skateboarding program includes free training sessions on Friday and Saturday, followed by the Skateboard Ramp Contest Qualifications on Sunday morning and the Finals on Sunday afternoon. A special Best Trick Contest for both Skateboard and BMX riders will take place on Saturday evening.

The stakes are high: all skateboard athletes finishing on the podium in their category will qualify for the 2026 World Rookie Tour Skateboard Finals, while the winner of the Rookie category will receive a free entry package including accommodation and registration for the Finals. Additional prizes from event sponsors will also be awarded.

World Rookie Tour Skateboard 2026: Finals Move to Celje, Slovenia

The World Rookie Tour Skateboard Finals are officially on the move for 2026. After last year’s edition in Velenje, the Finals are switching location and it’s not just a change, it’s a full upgrade.

The move marks a new chapter for the skate division of the World Rookie Skateboard Tour, with a strong focus on progression, international growth, and building iconic spots that riders will remember.

Park & Street: Two Disciplines, One Stage

The 2026 World Rookie Tour Skateboard Finals won’t just be bigger in terms of location, they’ll be bigger in format too. The Finals will feature both Park and Street disciplines, doubling the action and opening the door to a wider range of riding styles. Whether you flow through transitions or own the streets, there’s a contest for you in Celje,  September 25th to 27th, 2026. Two disciplines, one legendary stage, zero excuses.

The park has once again been designed by Chris Khan, one of Slovenia’s top skateboarders, who will also oversee the construction of the new setup. His vision and experience are expected to deliver a park built by skaters, for skaters combining progression, creativity and flow.

At the same time, the 2026 season is starting to take shape. While the full calendar is still being finalized, two key stops are already locked in:

The World Rookie Camp Les Deux Alpes will once again kick off the summer flow in the French Alps, mixing skate sessions, lifestyle vibes, and international riders all in one place. Then, after a packed summer, the spotlight moves to Italy for the Garda Rookie Fest, one of the most anticipated skate events of the season and now also expanding its format with BMX.

Behind the scenes, work is ongoing to complete the full 2026 calendar, with more events expected to be confirmed in the coming weeks as organizers finalize their licenses.

World Rookie Snowboard Finals 2026: last call before registrations close in Zell am See-Kaprun

The countdown is on for the 2026 World Rookie Snowboard Finals, the most anticipated moment of the season for the next generation of snowboard talent. From March 21st to 28th, the best young riders from all over the world will gather at Kitzsteinhorn – Zell am See Kaprun, Austria, ready to battle for the coveted World Rookie Champion titles.

Registrations for the event will officially close on March 16th, giving qualified riders just a few more days to secure their spot at one of the most prestigious youth snowboard events in the world.

After a winter packed with World Rookie Tour stops across Europe, Asia and North America, only the most motivated and talented young athletes have earned their chance to compete in the Finals. Zell am See-Kaprun will once again become the global stage where the future of snowboarding drops in.

The competition

During the Finals week, riders will compete in multiple disciplines designed to showcase their technical skills, creativity, and style. The event program includes Slopestyle, Big Air and Rail contests, featuring the best young talents from the Rookie and Grom categories.

The competition will take place in the legendary Kitzsteinhorn snowpark, shaped by one of Europe’s most experienced park crews, providing the perfect playground for riders to push their limits and deliver their best runs of the season.

Amazing prizes for the next generation

Winning a World Rookie title means much more than standing on the podium. Riders will compete for unique opportunities and world-class prizes, including invitations to prestigious international events such as Rock A Rail and Absolute Park Spring Battle, along with exclusive training weeks at the World Rookie Camp.

Additional prizes include special experiences like a surf camp in Santander offered by SurftoLive.com, plus many other rewards provided by official partners, including: Nitro, TSG, Collective [of] Moving People, Blue Tomato and Red Bull.

Live Streaming

Balkan Rookie Fest 2026 goes down in Malyovitsa, Bulgaria

Everything is set for the Balkan Rookie Fest 2026, taking place this weekend at the Malyovitsa Ski Center, as the World Rookie Tour returns to Bulgaria with one of the key snowboard events of the winter season. Official activities kick off on Wednesday, 11 February, with riders on snow for training, followed by the full competition day on Thursday, 12 February 2026.

This event represents an important step for freestyle snowboarding in the region. The Balkan Rookie Fest will take place at the brand-new Fun Park Malyovitsa, built on the historic Mecha Polyana slope, an area deeply connected to Bulgarian alpine tradition. With the opening of this new park, Malyovitsa officially enters the freestyle scene, offering young athletes a modern playground designed for progression, creativity, and safe performance.

The slopestyle and rail setup has been carefully shaped according to international safety and competition standards. The course is designed to reward clean execution, technical control, and smart line choice, giving rookies and groms the chance to compete on a balanced layout in a true alpine environment.

Top 3 riders in each category will earn a direct qualification to the World Rookie Snowboard Finals 2026 in Kaprun, Austria, where the best young snowboarders from around the world will compete at the end of the season.

Podium riders will also receive products and prizes from tour partners Blue Tomato, TSG, and Contrabanda.bg, confirming the importance of this stop within the World Rookie Tour calendar. Entry fees are set at 20 EUR per athlete, payable in cash on site, plus a 20 EUR BIP deposit, also payable in cash and refunded upon return of the bib. Lift access on competition days will be free of charge for all officially registered athletes and coaches, ensuring a smooth and rider-focused event experience.

Balkan Rookie Fest 2026 lands in Malyovitsa, Bulgaria

The Balkan Rookie Fest 2026 is officially confirmed and ready to bring World Rookie Tour energy to Bulgaria. On 12 February 2026, the Malyovitsa Ski Center will host one of the key rookie snowboard events of the winter, set in the heart of the Rila Mountains.

This stop celebrates the launch of the brand-new Fun Park Malyovitsa, built on the iconic Mecha Polyana slope. The park features a modern slopestyle and rail setup, designed according to international safety and competition standards, offering ideal conditions for rookies and groms to push progression, style, and control.

The event is part of the official World Rookie Tour, the global series dedicated to developing the next generation of snowboarders through structured, high-level competitions.

Qualification & categories

The Balkan Rookie Fest 2026 is a key stop on the World Rookie Tour pathway. The Top 3 riders in each category will secure a direct qualification to the World Rookie Snowboard Finals, where the season’s best young riders come together.

The event is open to Rookies (born 2008–2010) and Groms (born 2011 and later), with a competition format designed to support progression and fair comparison across age groups. All results will count toward the World Rookie Rank, rewarding consistency and performance throughout the season and making Malyovitsa an important opportunity to gain points, experience, and international exposure.

Hungarian Rookie Fest 2025: one of the last chances to qualify for the World Rookie Finals

The World Rookie Tour is returning to Hungary with the Hungarian Rookie Fest 2025, set for September 12–13 at Debex Skatepark in Debrecen. This contest is one of the last opportunities to qualify for the World Rookie Skateboard Finals 2025, taking place in Velenje, Slovenia, from September 26 to 28.

Hungarian Rookie Fest 2025

Young skaters from across Europe will gather in Debrecen to showcase their talent, creativity, and style in street skateboarding competitions. The Hungarian Rookie Fest features two age categories: Rookies (born between January 1, 2006 and December 31, 2009) and Groms (born from January 1, 2010 onwards). Both male and female riders are invited to compete for podium spots, valuable World Rookie Rank points, and exclusive prizes from Blue Tomato and TSG.

The event begins on September 12 with a full day of open training and a fun Game of Skate session, providing riders with the opportunity to warm up and connect with the local skate community. On September 13, the program continues with registration and morning training, followed by the official competition starting at 13:30. The day will wrap up with the prize giving at 17:30 and an After Session with music, celebrating skateboarding culture and community.

To participate in the Hungarian Rookie Fest, riders must just register via email at registration@worldrookietour.com or at the following LINK. The participation is FREE. Accommodation is not included, so participants are encouraged to book their own stay in Debrecen. The organisation team is available to assist if needed.

At stake are two all-inclusive tickets to the World Rookie Finals in Slovenia, along with the qualification of all podium riders in every category. The Best Trick winner will also secure a spot at the Finals, making Debrecen an unmissable stop for Europe’s next skateboarding stars.

Powered by Red Bull and supported by local partners including Debex, Schaeffler, Criminal Skateshop, Skullcandy, and Ostya Skate Academy, the Hungarian Rookie Fest will feature professional judging, media coverage, and an electrifying vibe.

X Challenge Park at the Black sea coast, provides an opportunity to practice most of the
extreme sports, in the pleasant environment of a cool pine forest. The park has a professional pool
for skateboarding, street skating course, a dirt track for mountain biking, legion track, as well as a
rope garden with several attractions: a jump with a static rope “pendulum”, a trolley, and a
children’s ropeway for the little ones.

In addition to perfect conditions for sports, the park also offers a wonderful environment for
socializing outside, in nature, both as natural as possible and unobtrusively protected and secured.
The infrastructure of the park follows the principle of minimum intervention in the surrounding
pine forest. The sports facilities are fully adapted to the relief of the terrain and the existing
vegetation and fit harmoniously into the park space.

For another year, the black Yeti will stop in Bulgaria on its way to the world finals in Prague, Czech
Republic. The best 2 from the “ Sea & Ride Rookie Fest” will receive all-inclusive tickets for the
final. We are expecting a great competition at the wonderful X Challenge park, with high level of
riding and positive vibes. For the participants and the audience there will be a lot of music, tricks,
food, drinks, Red Bull and the unique atmosphere of the World Rookie Tour!

World Rookie Tour Skateboard come back with old and new events, to discover the best talents all around the world.  There will be a solid Global Tour with stops in Germany, Romania, Moldavia, Finland, Hungary, Bulgaria, Cambodia, Greece, Italy, Great Britain, Switzerland, Portugal. The kick-off event will be held this Saturday, May the 20th, in Hamburg, Germany. Check the full calendar here.

The big news for 2023 is a new location for the World Rookie Skateboard Finals:  the end of season final will be hosted in Prague, Czech Republic, at the legendary Mystic Skatepark and will be held on 6 and 7 October 2023. Here we will crown the new World Rookie Champions and awards incredible prizes.

All contests in the World Rookie Tour will generate valuable results for the World Rookie Rank.  Not only events the World Rookie Fest can be part of the Skateboard Rookie Rank. For example, the European Best Foot Forward Tour by Blue-Tomato, featuring 10 stops all over Europe, for riders of all ages in one group, is already part of the Skateboard Rookie Rank.

Shilthron Rookie Fest 2023

Mürren, Switzerland, is proud to host the first edition of the Schilthorn World Rookie Fest from 01 to 04 March 2023. For the first time, the Skyline Snowpark will host the next generation of Freeski and Snowboard to showcase the future of the sport. Report Maramures Rookie Fest 2023

Maramures Rookie Fest at his second edition, part of the World Rookie Tour circuit, was lucky to have participants from six different countries, ready to fight for the podium and for a good ranking!

We had a difficult time building the park due to hot weather, but in one week our team has done the job, so that the riders could check the traditional vibes of Maramures, Romania.

First day of practice was amazing with a lot of sun, and everyone could enjoy our park and practice the best line for the contest. On the second day we had a lot of snowing, but from 11.00 o clock we were able to start the contest in perfect conditions! The level was very good, the riders were fantastic! In the evening we had the award ceremony with lots and lots of prizes , and than the party with DJ!

French Kiss Rookie Fest 23 Announced!

The Black Yeti makes its stop in France again in the stunning resort of Font Romeu, located at the heart of the Pyrenees mountain range in the southern part of the country. Known for its friendly atmosphere and frequently visited by national teams from all kinds of sports seeking altitude training, Font Romeu set a benchmark in sport facilities in Europe some decades ago and keeps moving forward.

The resort hosts the French National Training Center in Snowboard Freestyle and is home to one of the best snowpark in Europe, located 2100 m high. Come around and see by yourselves! Various workshops will make it for riders’ cohesion and exchange, DJs and live music on snow, Brazilian ensemble, and a brands’ village where boards and more will be tested.

National delegations are expected to reach Font Romeu on Monday, 5 February 2023, to be in place for the official training on Tuesday 6th morning. Workshops and other activities will be held on the afternoon and evening. Expect a rumble in the park with artists, amazing prizes, shooting sessions, movies screening, delicious food, and more surprises…

US Grom Fest 2023: Halfpipe Results

So stoked to share results from Copper Mountain, at the US Grom Rookie Fest 2023!

In the Rookie Men category Takaki Aikawa from Japan took the first place in front of Kosuke Ohashi (JAP) and Noah Avallone (USA) while in the Grom Men category get on the podium, Orion Casas, Aaron Wild and Jabob Li, all from USA.

Rookie Women category saw the victory of the Canadian Felicity Geremia, followed by Ava Starblanket (CAN) and Gabriella Holden (USA). Grom Women category podium consits of Patti Yizhu Zhou (USA), Rochelle Weinberg (USA) and Zoe Guerrero (USA).

World Rookie Fest Freeski started in Livigno

Black Yeti is so happy to have in Livigno 90 young freeskiers from 20 different Nations! Yesterday event presentation at the Cinelux was the best way to start, with all the riders and coaches watching together the World Rookie TV Show Premiere (stay tuned, we will publish it really soon!).

In this edition we are not lucky with the weather conditions and today qualification was cancelled, but all the freeskiers had lot of fun during the Night Rail Session at the Snowpark20. Jeremy Boiston (FRA) won the Best Trick and Melvin Seliberg (SWE) was the Best Riders of the night.

Tomorrow morning all the freeskiers will compete together and judges will score each rider using overall impression in a double up panel. Download starting list for tomorrow’s final here.

Time to know the World Rookie Fest 2023 Winners

Ville Jukola and Laura Zaveska won the 18th edition

100 young snowboarders from all over the world came in Livigno to one of their best experiences of their life. The legendary World Rookie Fest, the oldest World Rookie Tour event, this year went down with some difficulties due to the bad weather but you know, things don’t always go as they should, the important is to fix them and get the best out.
Let’s go in order.

World Rookie Fest starts with the event presentation at the Cinelux, where all the participants had the chance to watch the new World Rookie Tour TV Show and where Ian Rocca told us the Mottolino Snowpark history and what will happen in Livigno at the 2026 Olympics Games. Then on Monday night we saw 30 riders competing with a lot of fun at the Nitro Rail Jam at the Snowpark20, in Livigno downtown. Dmytro Luchkin won the Best Trick and the overall contest went to Julien Merker.

About the slopestyle contest, the legendary Mottolino Snowpark offered also in this 18th edition of the World Rookie Fest a premium freestyle terrain to compete with two lines: L/XL line with rails section, two kickers, cannon rail, and M line with three kickers and rails section.

Unfortunately, due to the bad weather, the rookie men qualification didn’t start as scheduled and the Grom Men qualification results became the officially finals results. The day after, Rookie Men and all the girls competed to get the top of the podium. How did it go?

World Rookie Fest Champion 2023 is Ville Jukola from Finland, with the following winning run: Switch backside blunt slide 270 out, Switch backside doublecork 1260 mute grab, Backside 720, Fifty fifty backflip out. Second place for Elias Lionel (SUI) and Erik Jurmu (FIN).

In the Grom category, Dmytro Luchkin from Ukraine landed Cab 270 in frontside boardslide 270 out, Frontside 720 Melon, Backside doubecork 1080 mute, Fifty fifty frontside 360 out, and took the first place in front of Mille Kahrstrom (SWE) and Pyry Posio (FIN).

Laura Zaveska (CZE) took the first place with a Frontside boardslide to fakie, Switch backside 540 indy grab, Frontside 720 indy grab, Fifty fifty backside 180 out. Second place Lova Baeckstroem (SWE) and third place for Alice Ricci (FRA).

In the Grom Girls category Aono Pordie Okaniwa (FRA) landed Cab 180, Backside 360 mute grab, Frontside 540 no grab, Switch boardslide to normal and won in front of Laura Anga (EST) and Sky Remand (BEL).

All podium riders, rookie, grom, male and female, are qualified for the World Rookie Finals 2023 which will take place in Kitzsteinhorn Zell am See-Kaprun from 19 to 25 March 2023.

Finally, Black Yeti reserved for the Best Snowboard Team of the event a ticket to participate in the world finals of the “Red Bull Hammers with Homies” team contest in Madonna di Campiglio, Italy. The surprises were not finished because Best Team of the event were two: Finland and France. See you in Madonna di Campiglio, at the Red Bull Hammers with Homies!
