World Rookie Snowboard Finals Return to Kaprun: registrations are now open!

Finals are back in Kaprun

The countdown has started. Registrations are officially open for the 2026 World Rookie Snowboard Finals in Kaprun, taking place from March 21st to 28th, 2026 at the legendary Kitzsteinhorn Zell am See-Kaprun, Austria.

After a full winter of Rookie Fests and international qualifiers across Europe, North America and Japan, the best young snowboarders on the planet are ready to drop in on the glacier for the ultimate showdown of the season. Kaprun is not just another stop — it’s the Grand Final, where Groms and Rookies battle for the prestigious titles in Slopestyle, Big Air and Rail.

Only qualified riders will earn their spot at the Finals. The event is open to male and female athletes born on or after January 1st, 2008, competing in the Rookie (2008–2010) and Grom (2011 and later) categories. Qualification is based on the official World Rookie Rank, with the top-ranked riders securing their place, alongside national quota selections and automatic qualifiers from previous events.

The entry fee is €100 for one discipline, €140 for two disciplines and €160 for three disciplines. Lift tickets (March 22–27) and official accommodation packages must be booked through the same platform. Accommodation starts from €72 per night per person (half board).

Winning in Kaprun means more than standing on the podium. Champions earn the title of World Rookie Snowboard Champion and enter the World Rookie Tour Hall of Fame, joining a legacy that has helped launch international snowboard careers. Exclusive prizes include tickets to Rock A Rail and Absolute Park Spring Battle, World Rookie Camp training weeks, Surf Camps in Santander and premium gear from Nitro, TSG, Blue Tomato, Red Bull and more.

Registrations are officially open for the World Rookie Freeski Finals 2026, set to take place from March 15th to 20th, 2026 at the legendary Ursus Snowpark in Madonna di Campiglio, Italy.

For the fifth consecutive year, Madonna di Campiglio confirms its role as the home of the World Rookie Freeski Finals, strengthening a partnership that has turned the Dolomites into a global stage for the next generation of freeski athletes. Nestled in one of Europe’s most iconic alpine destinations, Ursus Snowpark once again becomes the arena where future champions are crowned.

The 2026 World Rookie Freeski Finals will feature a Freeski Slopestyle competition (FIS Junior event) alongside a Rail Contest, both hosted exclusively on the progressive L Line of Ursus Snowpark. Known for its perfectly shaped kickers and safe yet technical setup, the park allows riders to push their limits while maintaining high competitive standards.

The event represents the most important stop of the World Rookie Tour season. Only the best qualified Grom and Rookie freeskiers from around the world earn their place at the Finals. The top three riders from each 2026 World Rookie Tour stop are already qualified, while every nation also has wild card spots available.

World Rookie Freeski Finals 2026

Participation in the World Rookie Freeski Finals 2026 offers valuable ranking opportunities. Athletes can earn points valid for both the FIS rankings and the World Rookie Freeski Rank, yet holding an FIS code is not mandatory to compete. This structure keeps the event internationally recognized while remaining accessible to emerging talents.

On Wednesday, March 18th, the Slopestyle Finals will once again be broadcast live worldwide, confirming the professional live streaming production that has characterized recent editions. Families, teams, sponsors and fans will be able to follow the competition in real time from anywhere in the world.

Winning the World Rookie Freeski Finals means earning the prestigious title of World Rookie Freeski Champion and securing a place in the official World Rookie Tour Hall of Fame. On Thursday morning, March 19th, the Slopestyle Finals will go live from the iconic Ursus Snowpark, set high above Madonna di Campiglio in the breathtaking Dolomites.

The event will be broadcast live on our official YouTube channel, allowing families, friends, and fans from all over the world to follow every run in real time. Even if you cannot be physically in Trentino, you will be able to experience every rail section, every jump line and the emotional moment when the new Slopestyle Champion is crowned.

Ursus Snowpark is one of Europe’s most respected freestyle venues. Its slopestyle setup combines technical rail features and perfectly shaped kickers, rewarding creativity, amplitude and clean execution. It’s a course that demands precision and vision — exactly what defines modern slopestyle riding.

For these young athletes, this is not just another competition day. It is the culmination of an entire season of progression, early mornings, travel, and commitment. Being able to share this moment through live streaming means supporters everywhere can be part of the energy — cheering from home, from school, from work, or from across the globe.

Slovakia Rookie Fest 2026: Slopestyle Takes Over Jasná

On February 21st, 2026, the World Rookie Tour lands in the heart of the Nízke Tatry mountains for the Slovakia Rookie Fest 2026. The event will take place at Jasná Snowpark, one of the most important freestyle hubs in Slovakia and a reference point for the next generation of riders.

The competition will feature both Snowboard Slopestyle and Freeski Slopestyle, open to Rookie riders (born 2008–2010) and Grom riders (born 2011 and younger). One venue, one day, two disciplines, all about progression, style and rookie mindset.

Event Program:

The schedule starts on Friday, February 20th, 2026, with unofficial training (8:30–15:30) and the Online Coaches & Riders Meeting at 19:30.

The main event unfolds on Saturday, February 21st. Riders will complete registration (8:30–10:00) and inspection (8:30–8:50) before entering official training (8:50–11:15). Qualifications will run from 11:30 to 13:30, followed by Finals from 14:00 to 15:00 and the Prize Giving Ceremony at 15:30. The final detailed program will be confirmed during the Riders Meeting.

Set against a powerful alpine backdrop, Jasná Snowpark, Nízke Tatry offers a progressive slopestyle setup designed to let young athletes express their level safely while pushing technical limits. As every World Rookie Tour stop, this event is not just about results, it’s about community, new connections and sharing freestyle culture.

Hungarian World Rookie Fest 2026 Returns to Mátraszentistván

The World Rookie Tour is heading back to Hungary for the Hungarian World Rookie Fest 2026, set to take place from February 26 to March 1, 2026, at Skipark Mátraszentistván. Located in one of Hungary’s most traditional mountain areas, this event confirms its role as a key Eastern European stop for the next generation of freestyle snowboarders.

The competition will run in Slopestyle format, with slope number 5 partially reserved for the event and shaped by the Snowboard Hungary Crew. The setup is designed to support progression, consistency and clean execution. The event is open to Rookies (born 2008–2010) and Groms (born 2011 and later), both women and men. All results will count toward the World Rookie Rank, and all podium riders will earn direct qualification for the 2026 World Rookie Finals in Kaprun, Austria.

The overall best girl and best boy will receive all-inclusive tickets to the World Rookie Finals, while the best Hungarian rider will secure a national qualification spot. All registered athletes will also receive a goodie bag from the event partners.

Ogau Rookie Fest 2026: rail action in the Bavarian Alps

The Ogau Rookie Fest 2026 is set to go down from February 19th to 21st, 2026, in Oberammergau, Germany, bringing snowboarders and freeskier rookies back to one of the most solid rail stops on the winter calendar. Hosted at Snowpark Oberammergau, the event confirms its role as a key meeting point for young riders focused on progression, style and competitive experience.

Part of the World Rookie Tour and run in cooperation with the Junior Freestyle Tour, the Ogau Rookie Fest combines an international contest atmosphere with a compact, rider-friendly setup designed to push technical rail riding in a safe and progressive environment. The park will be shaped by the local Oberammergau Snowpark Crew, ensuring creative lines and consistent conditions throughout the event.

The action starts on Thursday, February 19th, with the Riders Office opening, official training sessions and the first coach meeting.
On Friday, February 20th, the spotlight is on the Freeski Rail Contest, followed by prize giving and snowboard training in the afternoon. The day will close with the Blue Tomato BBQ Night, a classic social moment where riders, coaches and crew come together off the rails.
Saturday, February 21st, is dedicated to the Snowboard Rail Contest, wrapping up with the final prize giving.

The competition is open to Rookies (born 2008–2010), Groms (2011–2013) and Super Groms (2014 and later), female and male. All results will count toward the World Rookie Rank, while points will also be awarded for the Junior Freestyle Tour ranking.

Balkan Rookie Fest 2026 goes down in Malyovitsa, Bulgaria

Everything is set for the Balkan Rookie Fest 2026, taking place this weekend at the Malyovitsa Ski Center, as the World Rookie Tour returns to Bulgaria with one of the key snowboard events of the winter season. Official activities kick off on Wednesday, 11 February, with riders on snow for training, followed by the full competition day on Thursday, 12 February 2026.

This event represents an important step for freestyle snowboarding in the region. The Balkan Rookie Fest will take place at the brand-new Fun Park Malyovitsa, built on the historic Mecha Polyana slope, an area deeply connected to Bulgarian alpine tradition. With the opening of this new park, Malyovitsa officially enters the freestyle scene, offering young athletes a modern playground designed for progression, creativity, and safe performance.

The slopestyle and rail setup has been carefully shaped according to international safety and competition standards. The course is designed to reward clean execution, technical control, and smart line choice, giving rookies and groms the chance to compete on a balanced layout in a true alpine environment.

Top 3 riders in each category will earn a direct qualification to the World Rookie Snowboard Finals 2026 in Kaprun, Austria, where the best young snowboarders from around the world will compete at the end of the season.

Podium riders will also receive products and prizes from tour partners Blue Tomato, TSG, and Contrabanda.bg, confirming the importance of this stop within the World Rookie Tour calendar. Entry fees are set at 20 EUR per athlete, payable in cash on site, plus a 20 EUR BIP deposit, also payable in cash and refunded upon return of the bib. The big news for 2026 is clear: for the first time in its history, Snowboard Slopestyle officially joins the Innsbruck Rookie Fest. After years as a key reference point for freeski progression, the event opens its start gate to snowboarders, transforming Innsbruck into a true dual-discipline World Rookie Tour stop. A milestone moment that expands the event’s vision and brings new energy to one of the most iconic freestyle venues in the Alps.

Riders will drop into a slopestyle course overlooking the Innsbruck skyline, set in a unique alpine environment above the city. The Nordkette Skyline Park is internationally known for its dramatic setting and progressive terrain, shaped by the experienced Skyline Park Shaping Crew to support safe progression, creative lines and confident riding. Both freeskiers and snowboarders will face a high-level contest setup designed to challenge young athletes while keeping progression at the core.

The Innsbruck Rookie Fest 2026 is not just about podiums. All competition categories are officially confirmed, featuring Women and Men divisions for both Groms and Rookies. The Ursus Rookie Fest is getting closer, and here are some key updates every snowboarder and team should know. First of all, the competition is officially registered as a WSPL Amateur event with a 2-star rating. This means riders will earn valuable WSPL points while competing in a structured, international contest environment designed specifically for young athletes.

The international field is already taking shape. Multiple nations have confirmed their participation, making Ursus Rookie Fest a truly global meeting point for the snowboard community. Teams and riders are expected from Poland, France, Estonia, Australia, New Zealand, United Arab Emirates, Norway, Czech Republic, Italy, Spain and Russia, with more confirmations still coming in. This guarantees a high-level and diverse field, perfect for meaningful international comparison.

Ursus Rookie Fest 2026

Another key element is the park setup. The slopestyle course at Ursus Snowpark will be built to the same standards used for the FIS European Cup, taking place in the days just before the event. Expect a professional layout, progressive features and a competition environment that mirrors top-level European contests — all while remaining rider-focused and safe.

But the World Rookie Tour is not just about competition.

As part of the event, riders will take part in a special workshop within the He.Art Project is an initiative that combines sport, creativity and inclusion. During the workshop, athletes will have the opportunity to customise skateboard decks and turn them into unique pieces of art, working side by side with young people with disabilities from the Gruppo Gamma of Cremona.

This moment is designed to go beyond results and rankings, creating space for connection, creativity and shared experience. It reflects the true spirit of the World Rookie Tour: a place where competition meets culture, and where riders become part of a community — a family — not just a start list.

Ten years of slopestyle: the 10th Nanshan Freeski Open 2026

During the 2025–2026 winter season, the 10th Nanshan Freeski Open will take place from January 23 to 25, 2026, at Nanshan Resort, confirming its position as one of Asia’s leading freeski slopestyle events. Founded in 2015 by Nanshan Resort, the competition has grown steadily over the years, maintaining high standards and earning recognition as an AFP Gold Medal event in Asia.

Across nine successful editions, the Nanshan Freeski Open has welcomed more than 50 world-class athletes from over 10 countries, including the United States, France, New Zealand, Italy, and Japan. The event has built a strong international reputation, consistently attracting experienced riders and emerging talents to Beijing.

The 2026 edition marks a major milestone, celebrating ten years of competition and progression. Athletes will compete on a dedicated slopestyle course, designed to reward creativity, control, and technical execution. The event is open to Adult and Junior categories, creating space for both established competitors and the next generation of freeskiers.

Beyond the contest itself, the Nanshan Freeski Open supports the long-term growth of freestyle skiing in China. Since 2018, its Youth Training Support Program has helped develop new talent, and in 2024 the event was named one of Beijing’s Top 10 Sporting Events, highlighting its impact on the national freestyle scene.

The Nanshan Freeski Open celebrates its 10th edition in Beijing, ready to raise the level once again.

The 10th Nanshan Freeski Open is set to drop in at Nanshan Resort from January 23 to 25, 2026, celebrating a major milestone for one of Asia’s most respected freeski slopestyle events. Founded by Nanshan Resort in 2015, the competition has consistently delivered high standards and progression-driven riding, earning recognition as an AFP Gold Medal event in Asia.

Across nine successful editions, the event has welcomed more than 50 world-class athletes from over 10 countries, including the United States, France, New Zealand, Italy, and Japan. Over the years, the Nanshan Freeski Open has featured some of the biggest names in freeskiing, helping build its strong international reputation and global appeal.

The 2026 edition marks the 10th anniversary of the event and aims to raise the level even higher. Top international skiers and emerging talents will come together on a dedicated slopestyle setup, delivering three days of competition focused on creativity, clean execution, and progression.

Beyond the contest itself, the Nanshan Freeski Open plays a key role in growing freestyle skiing in China. Since 2018, the Youth Training Support Program has inspired a new generation of riders, creating a solid talent pipeline. The youngest competitor is now just nine years old. The first-ever World Rookie Tour rail-focused journey across Europe officially came to an end from December 19 to 21 at Snowfest The Hague, closing the 2025 Rock A Rail Ski & Snowboard Tour in the city where this iconic urban format was born in 2011. The fifth and final stop marked the conclusion of a highly successful third season and confirmed the strength of street-style freestyle within the WRT ecosystem.

Across three days, The Hague delivered packed crowds, creative urban setups and high-level riding. The largest setup of the entire tour pushed snowboarders and freeskiers to combine technical rail tricks, gaps and original lines, transforming the city into a true street freestyle playground.

In the snowboard competition, Katja Dutu (NED) secured her first Rock A Rail victory in the women’s category, landing a backside lipslide pretzel out to claim the Best Trick Award. Mia Langridge (GBR) followed in second place, continuing a remarkably consistent season, while local rider Rachida Aoulad (NED) completed the podium.
In the men’s event, Botond Fricz (HUN) earned his first Rock A Rail win, ahead of Oscar Mattart (FRA) in second and Joewen Frijns (BEL) in third.

The ski competition set the pace early in the weekend. Hannah Langes (AUT) dominated the women’s final, followed by Alais Develay (FRA) and Ellen Damsgaard (DEN). In the men’s final, Joey van der Meer (NED) made history as the first Dutch freeskier to win a Rock A Rail on home soil, ahead of Tyler Nicholls-Stubbington (IRL) and Juho Saastamoinen (FIN).

World Rookie Tour Street Stop—The Hague (December 21)

Sunday, December 21, the spotlight shifted to the next generation with the World Rookie Tour Street Snowboard stop, held on the Rock A Rail setup during Snowfest’s Kids Day. Young riders from across Europe took over the urban features, showcasing creativity, progression and true street attitude, perfectly linking the legacy of Rock A Rail with the future of the WRT rail scene.

This year, instead of carrying gifts, the World Rookie Tour mascot is travelling worldwide with a clear mission: bringing qualification opportunities to snowboarders and freeskiers aiming for the World Rookie Finals.

The holiday season marks a short pause, but winter competition mode is just around the corner. As soon as the celebrations end, riders will be back on snow chasing points, experience and progression through the official World Rookie Tour winter stops.

The road to the World Rookie Finals

The ultimate goal of the season remains unchanged.
The World Rookie Snowboard Finals and World Rookie Freeski Finals will take place in March, closing the winter with the highest level of rookie competition.

Groms Open Rookie Fest — January 5–6, 2026 | Mayrhofen, Austria

Hosted at the iconic PenkenPark, the Groms Open Rookie Fest is the perfect entry point for the youngest generation of riders. Two days of snowboarding focused on learning how to compete, building confidence and experiencing real contest conditions in a supportive environment.

Finland Rookie Fest — January 17–18, 2026 | Iso-Syöte, Finland

Set in the heart of Finnish Lapland, the Finland Rookie Fest merges the Suomi Cup with the World Rookie Tour. Riders compete in slopestyle and big air, enjoying clean setups, proper winter conditions and an international contest atmosphere that rewards consistency and progression.

Ursus Rookie Fest — January 25–29, 2026 | Madonna di Campiglio, Italy

For the first time, World Rookie Tour snowboarders will compete in Madonna di Campiglio. The event takes place at Ursus Snowpark, one of the most premium and progressive snowparks in the Alps. This snowboard-only slopestyle competition offers top-level features, precise shaping and full Finals pressure. All podium riders earn direct qualification for the World Rookie Snowboard Finals, while the Best Man and Best Woman receive an all-inclusive ticket to the Finals, including accommodation, skipass and entry fee.

The countdown is officially on. Registrations for the Groms Open Rookie Fest 2026 are closing soon, with the final deadline set for January 3, 2026. Young snowboarders who want to start the year with a true international Rookie experience still have a short window to secure their spot.

The event will take place on January 5–6, 2026, at PenkenPark in Mayrhofen, Austria, one of the most iconic freestyle parks in the Alps. Hosted in the Horberg ski area, shaped by the PenkenPark Crew, and operated by Mayrhofner Bergbahnen, the Groms Open Rookie Fest offers the perfect environment for rookies to gain contest experience, ride a top-level setup, and connect with the global World Rookie community.

Designed for young riders across different age categories, the Groms Open Rookie Fest focuses on progression, creativity, and learning how to perform in a real competition environment. From training sessions to finals, every moment is built to help riders grow, both on and off the snow.

The event opens on Monday, January 5, with a full training day at PenkenPark, allowing riders to get familiar with the course and dial in their runs. In the evening, the traditional Riders Meeting at the Edelweiss Lounge in Mayrhofen brings together athletes, coaches, and crew for pizza, billiards, and pure Rookie vibes. Tuesday, January 6, is contest day, with qualifications and finals deciding podiums and overall rankings.

Beyond medals, riders will earn ranking points for the World Rookie Tour, World Snowboard Tour and World Snowboard Federation. The overall winner will secure a direct ticket to the World Rookie Finals, where the best young riders of the season compete for the World Rookie Champion title. Premium prizes from Blue Tomato and TSG complete the prize pool.

The entry fee is 50 € per athlete. Lift passes are not included, but registered riders can access a discounted rate at the Horbergbahn Valley Station for event days. Helmets and protectors are mandatory.

The Finland Rookie Fest 2026 heads to Iso-Syöte Snowpark, bringing together the World Rookie Tour and Suomi Cup for a weekend of slopestyle and big air dedicated to the next generation of snowboarder


The Finland Rookie Fest Iso-Syöte 2026 will take place this winter at Iso-Syöte Snowpark, Finland, one of the most iconic freestyle destinations in Finnish Lapland. The event will unite the national Suomi Cup with the international World Rookie Tour, creating a high-level competition focused on progression, experience and real contest vibes for young snowboarders.

The event will mark the opening stop of the Suomi Cup season in January, while simultaneously hosting the World Rookie Tour Finland Rookie Fest. Riders will compete in slopestyle and big air, two disciplines designed to reward progression, control, and creativity. The competition is open to Kids, Groms, Rookies and Open categories, offering a structured contest environment for different age groups and experience levels.

As an official World Rookie Tour stop, the Finland Rookie Fest will award World Rookie Rank points, contributing to seasonal rankings and supporting riders aiming to qualify for the World Rookie Finals, where the World Rookie Champion titles are decided. Beyond results and podiums, the event focuses on learning how to compete, sharing sessions with peers, and gaining valuable international contest experience.

Provisional Event Program

The event will begin on Friday, January 16, with open training sessions throughout the day, on-site registration in the afternoon and an online riders’ meeting in the evening.

Saturday, January 17, will be dedicated to Slopestyle, starting with Kids and Groms in the morning, followed by Rookie and Open categories in the afternoon and the official prize ceremony.

On Sunday, January 18, the focus will shift to Big Air, following a similar structure and closing the event with final prize ceremonies in the afternoon.
The schedule may be subject to changes depending on weather and snow conditions.

The Ursus Rookie Fest is getting closer and is shaping up to be one of the most rewarding snowboard events of the 2026 winter season. From January 25 to 29, 2026, young snowboarders will compete in Madonna di Campiglio, riding in the spectacular Ursus Snowpark, widely regarded as one of the top snow parks in the Alps.

This event marks a historic first for the World Rookie Tour: it is the first time that WRT brings snowboarders to Madonna di Campiglio. After several seasons in which only freeskiers had the chance to experience this iconic venue, it is finally time for snowboarders to drop into Ursus Snowpark and make it their own.

The entire competition will take place exclusively on the L Line, a progressive slopestyle setup designed for clean takeoffs, smooth landings, and safe progression. Shaped to international standards, the L Line offers the ideal environment for high-level rookie competition and skill development.

Beyond the venue, Ursus Rookie Fest stands out for what is at stake. All riders stepping onto the podium will earn direct access to the World Rookie Snowboard Finals, scheduled in Austria at the end of March. In addition, the Best Man and Best Woman of the event will receive an all-inclusive ticket to the Finals, including accommodation, skipass and entry fee fully covered.

The prize pool goes even further. Rookie Men and Rookie Women podium winners will also be awarded a Surf Camp experience by Surf To Live, extending the competitive journey beyond winter. Podium athletes will additionally receive prize packages from event partners Moving CMP, Blue Tomato, and TSG, reinforcing the World Rookie Tour’s action sports ecosystem.

Registrations are currently open with an Early Bird rate available until December 19. After this deadline, registrations will remain open, but the price will increase. For riders and teams planning their winter calendar, securing a spot early is the smartest move.
