Washigatake Rookie Fest is deeply rooted in Japanese snowboard history. Snowboard Slopestyle makes its debut at the Innsbruck Rookie Fest

Registrations are officially open for the Innsbruck Rookie Fest, set to return from February 20th to 22nd, 2026, at the iconic Nordkette Skyline Park, high above the city of Innsbruck. Now in its 8th edition, the event marks a major step forward in the evolution of the World Rookie Tour.

The big news for 2026 is clear: for the first time in its history, Snowboard Slopestyle officially joins the Innsbruck Rookie Fest. After years as a key reference point for freeski progression, the event opens its start gate to snowboarders, transforming Innsbruck into a true dual-discipline World Rookie Tour stop. A milestone moment that expands the event’s vision and brings new energy to one of the most iconic freestyle venues in the Alps.

Riders will drop into a slopestyle course overlooking the Innsbruck skyline, set in a unique alpine environment above the city. The Nordkette Skyline Park is internationally known for its dramatic setting and progressive terrain, shaped by the experienced Skyline Park Shaping Crew to support safe progression, creative lines and confident riding. Both freeskiers and snowboarders will face a high-level contest setup designed to challenge young athletes while keeping progression at the core.

The Innsbruck Rookie Fest 2026 is not just about podiums. Qualification tickets for the World Rookie Finals will be awarded in both Freeski and Snowboard, making Innsbruck a decisive stop for riders aiming to continue their journey on the international rookie stage. For Austrian athletes, the event also represents an important opportunity to compete for their National Junior Champion titles in Slopestyle.

The competition is open to Rookies (born 2008–2010) and Groms (born 2011 and younger), men and women, and will be held under FIS NYC rules, with WSF/FIS certified judges ensuring professional and consistent evaluation.

With Snowboard Slopestyle making its debut and Finals tickets on the line for both disciplines, the Innsbruck Rookie Fest 2026 is set to be one of the most exciting and forward-looking stops of the World Rookie Tour winter season.

An intense and exciting day unfolded at the Ursus Rookie Fest, as the Boys Finals officially went down at the Ursus Snowpark. Both Grom Boys and Rookie Boys categories dropped in, delivering a full day of high-level snowboarding and confirming the strong momentum of this year’s edition.

From the first runs of the morning, the focus was clear: stay solid, manage pressure and put down clean lines when it mattered most. The finals highlighted the depth of talent across both categories, with riders showing confidence, control and a strong understanding of the park setup.

In the Grom Boys finals, the competition stayed tight until the very end. Hartley Zietsh (AUS) took the win with a composed and well-executed performance, standing out for consistency and control under pressure. Valter Pazeri (ITA) followed closely in second place, delivering a strong final run that kept the fight open until the last drops. Ukko Raaitikainen (FIN) finished third on the podium, confirming a solid performance and the high potential already visible at Grom level.

The level stepped up even further during the Rookie Boys finals, where experience and technical awareness played a key role. With just 4 days to go, the Ursus Rookie Fest 2026 is ready to kick off in Madonna di Campiglio, confirming itself as one of the key snowboard events of the winter within the World Rookie Tour calendar. Last registrations are still open as young riders from all over the world prepare to drop into one of the most anticipated rookie-level competitions of the season.

All competition categories are officially confirmed, featuring Women and Men divisions for both Groms and Rookies. The competitive stakes are clear and concrete: category winners will earn direct access to the World Rookie Finals, scheduled at the end of March in Austria. In addition, the Best Boy and Best Girl overall of the event will each receive an all-inclusive ticket to the World Rookie Finals, turning performance into a real opportunity and making every run count.

The international field highlights the global dimension of the Ursus Rookie Fest. 60 athletes are already registered, with teams and riders arriving from Poland, France, Estonia, Australia, New Zealand, United Arab Emirates, Norway, Czech Republic, Italy, Spain and Russia, while Great Britain is the latest nation to join the start list. This mix guarantees a high and diverse competitive level, offering young snowboarders a real international comparison and a valuable development experience.

From a technical perspective, the event is supported by UNION as official technical sponsor, backing the competition and the next generation of riders with a strong focus on performance, safety and progression. The prize structure goes beyond traditional podium rewards: Rookie Men and Rookie Women podium winners will receive a Surf Camp experience by Surf To Live, extending their competitive journey beyond winter and into another board discipline. The Nanshan Open Rookie Fest came to a close on January 17 at Mellow Parks, China, delivering a full day of high-energy riding and clear signals about where the future of freestyle snowboarding is heading. Set in one of Asia’s most progressive snowpark environments, the event brought together Rookies and Groms across the Asian snowboard scene, all hungry to make their mark.

From the first drops, the vibe was all about progression. Riders focused on clean execution, confidence on features, and consistency. Exactly what you want to see at this stage of development. The park setup allowed athletes to push without overreaching, and the results reflected that balance between ambition and control.

The Rookie Boys podium was completely dominated by Chinese riders. Junxin Li (CHN) took the win with a solid and composed performance, showing maturity well beyond his years. Close behind, Minzai Chen (CHN) secured second place with a run built on precision and flow, while Shining Wang (CHN) rounded out the podium in third, confirming the depth of talent coming up through the Chinese snowboard scene.

The Balkan Rookie Fest 2026 is officially confirmed and ready to bring World Rookie Tour energy to Bulgaria. On 12 February 2026, the Malyovitsa Ski Center will host one of the key rookie snowboard events of the winter, set in the heart of the Rila Mountains.

This stop celebrates the launch of the brand-new Fun Park Malyovitsa, built on the iconic Mecha Polyana slope. The park features a modern slopestyle and rail setup, designed according to international safety and competition standards, offering ideal conditions for rookies and groms to push progression, style, and control.

The event is part of the official World Rookie Tour, the global series dedicated to developing the next generation of snowboarders through structured, high-level competitions.

The World Rookie Tour season has officially kicked off with the Groms Open Rookie Fest, hosted at PenkenPark in Mayrhofen, one of the most respected freestyle snowparks in Europe. The event delivered high-level riding, international participation and a clear message: the next generation of snowboarders is ready to step up.

Held in a perfectly shaped park and supported by solid snow conditions, the Groms Open Rookie Fest brought together young athletes from different countries, competing across Groms, Rookies and Girls categories. The overall level of riding highlighted not only technical progression, but also maturity and confidence rarely seen at such a young age.

In the Grom Boys category, Hayden Jacobs (AUS) dominated the competition, claiming both the event victory and the overall title. His consistent performance across the runs set him apart from the rest of the field, confirming his position as one of the most promising young riders on tour. He was followed by Ricco Nawarkiewicz-Wisniewski (POL) in second place and Logan Cuss (AUS) in third, completing a podium that showcased strong international depth.

First of all, the competition is officially registered as a WSPL Amateur event with a 2-star rating. This means riders will earn valuable WSPL points while competing in a structured, international contest environment designed specifically for young athletes.

The international field is already taking shape. Multiple nations have confirmed their participation, making Ursus Rookie Fest a truly global meeting point for the snowboard community. Teams and riders are expected from Poland, France, Estonia, Australia, New Zealand, United Arab Emirates, Norway, Czech Republic, Italy, Spain and Russia, with more confirmations still coming in. This guarantees a high-level and diverse field, perfect for meaningful international comparison.

Another key element is the park setup. The slopestyle course at Ursus Snowpark will be built to the same standards used for the FIS European Cup, taking place in the days just before the event. And the first-ever WRT Rail Tour across Europe is done

The first-ever World Rookie Tour rail-focused journey across Europe officially came to an end from December 19 to 21 at Snowfest The Hague, closing the 2025 Rock A Rail Ski & Snowboard Tour in the city where this iconic urban format was born in 2011. The fifth and final stop marked the conclusion of a highly successful third season and confirmed the strength of street-style freestyle within the WRT ecosystem.

Across three days, The Hague delivered packed crowds, creative urban setups and high-level riding. The largest setup of the entire tour pushed snowboarders and freeskiers to combine technical rail tricks, gaps and original lines, transforming the city into a true street freestyle playground.

In the snowboard competition, Katja Dutu (NED) secured her first Rock A Rail victory in the women’s category, landing a backside lipslide pretzel out to claim the Best Trick Award. Mia Langridge (GBR) followed in second place, continuing a remarkably consistent season, while local rider Rachida Aoulad (NED) completed the podium.
In the men’s event, Botond Fricz (HUN) earned his first Rock A Rail win, ahead of Oscar Mattart (FRA) in second and Joewen Frijns (BEL) in third.

The ski competition set the pace early in the weekend. Hannah Langes (AUT) dominated the women’s final, followed by Alais Develay (FRA) and Ellen Damsgaard (DEN). In the men’s final, Joey van der Meer (NED) made history as the first Dutch freeskier to win a Rock A Rail on home soil, ahead of Tyler Nicholls-Stubbington (IRL) and Juho Saastamoinen (FIN).

Sunday, December 21, the spotlight shifted to the next generation with the World Rookie Tour Street Snowboard stop, held on the Rock A Rail setup during Snowfest’s Kids Day. Set in the heart of Finnish Lapland, the Finland Rookie Fest merges the Suomi Cup with the World Rookie Tour. Riders compete in slopestyle and big air, enjoying clean setups, proper winter conditions and an international contest atmosphere that rewards consistency and progression.

Ursus Rookie Fest — January 25–29, 2026 | Madonna di Campiglio, Italy

For the first time, World Rookie Tour snowboarders will compete in Madonna di Campiglio. The event takes place at Ursus Snowpark, one of the most premium and progressive snowparks in the Alps. This snowboard-only slopestyle competition offers top-level features, precise shaping and full Finals pressure. All podium riders earn direct qualification for the World Rookie Snowboard Finals, while the Best Man and Best Woman receive an all-inclusive ticket to the Finals, including accommodation, skipass and entry fee.

The countdown is officially on. Registrations for the Groms Open Rookie Fest 2026 are closing soon, with the final deadline set for January 3, 2026. Young snowboarders who want to start the year with a true international Rookie experience still have a short window to secure their spot.

The event will take place on January 5–6, 2026, at PenkenPark in Mayrhofen, Austria, one of the most iconic freestyle parks in the Alps. Hosted in the Horberg ski area, shaped by the PenkenPark Crew, and operated by Mayrhofner Bergbahnen, the Groms Open Rookie Fest offers the perfect environment for rookies to gain contest experience, ride a top-level setup, and connect with the global World Rookie community.

Designed for young riders across different age categories, the Groms Open Rookie Fest focuses on progression, creativity, and learning how to perform in a real competition environment. From training sessions to finals, every moment is built to help riders grow, both on and off the snow.

The event opens on Monday, January 5, with a full training day at PenkenPark, allowing riders to get familiar with the course and dial in their runs. In the evening, the traditional Riders Meeting at the Edelweiss Lounge in Mayrhofen brings together athletes, coaches, and crew for pizza, billiards, and pure Rookie vibes. Tuesday, January 6, is contest day, with qualifications and finals deciding podiums and overall rankings.

Beyond medals, riders will earn ranking points for the World Rookie Tour, World Snowboard Tour and World Snowboard Federation. The overall winner will secure a direct ticket to the World Rookie Finals, where the best young riders of the season compete for the World Rookie Champion title. Premium prizes from Blue Tomato and TSG complete the prize pool.

The entry fee is 50 € per athlete. Lift passes are not included, but registered riders can access a discounted rate at the Horbergbahn Valley Station for event days. Helmets and protectors are mandatory.

The Finland Rookie Fest 2026 heads to Iso-Syöte Snowpark, bringing together the World Rookie Tour and Suomi Cup for a weekend of slopestyle and big air dedicated to the next generation of snowboarder


The Finland Rookie Fest Iso-Syöte 2026 will take place this winter at Iso-Syöte Snowpark, Finland, one of the most iconic freestyle destinations in Finnish Lapland. The event will unite the national Suomi Cup with the international World Rookie Tour, creating a high-level competition focused on progression, experience and real contest vibes for young snowboarders.

The event will mark the opening stop of the Suomi Cup season in January, while simultaneously hosting the World Rookie Tour Finland Rookie Fest. Riders will compete in slopestyle and big air, two disciplines designed to reward progression, control, and creativity. The competition is open to Kids, Groms, Rookies and Open categories, offering a structured contest environment for different age groups and experience levels.

As an official World Rookie Tour stop, the Finland Rookie Fest will award World Rookie Rank points, contributing to seasonal rankings and supporting riders aiming to qualify for the World Rookie Finals, where the World Rookie Champion titles are decided. Beyond results and podiums, the event focuses on learning how to compete, sharing sessions with peers, and gaining valuable international contest experience.

Provisional Event Program

The event will begin on Friday, January 16, with open training sessions throughout the day, on-site registration in the afternoon and an online riders’ meeting in the evening.

Saturday, January 17, will be dedicated to Slopestyle, starting with Kids and Groms in the morning, followed by Rookie and Open categories in the afternoon and the official prize ceremony.

On Sunday, January 18, the focus will shift to Big Air, following a similar structure and closing the event with final prize ceremonies in the afternoon.
The schedule may be subject to changes depending on weather and snow conditions.

Riders must register in advance, as on-site registrations will not be accepted.

Entry fees are €25 for one discipline or €35 for two disciplines, allowing riders to compete in slopestyle, big air or both.

The snowpark setup will be shaped to support progression while allowing riders to push their level in a safe and professional contest environment.

The competition is open to Rookie riders (under 18) and follows World Rookie Tour standards, ensuring clear formats, consistent judging, and a positive learning experience. Beyond rankings and podiums, the Finland Rookie Fest focuses on rider development, shared sessions, and gaining experience in an international contest atmosphere. For many young athletes, events like this represent a key step toward future participation in elite competitions.

As an official stop of the World Rookie Tour, the event will also award points for the World Rookie Rank, contributing to the seasonal standings and supporting riders on their path toward the World Rookie Finals, where the World Rookie Champion titles are awarded.

The Ursus Rookie Fest is getting closer and is shaping up to be one of the most rewarding snowboard events of the 2026 winter season. From January 25 to 29, 2026, young snowboarders will compete in Madonna di Campiglio, riding in the spectacular Ursus Snowpark, widely regarded as one of the top snow parks in the Alps.

This event marks a historic first for the World Rookie Tour: it is the first time that WRT brings snowboarders to Madonna di Campiglio. After several seasons in which only freeskiers had the chance to experience this iconic venue, it is finally time for snowboarders to drop into Ursus Snowpark and make it their own.

The entire competition will take place exclusively on the L Line, a progressive slopestyle setup designed for clean takeoffs, smooth landings, and safe progression. Shaped to international standards, the L Line offers the ideal environment for high-level rookie competition and skill development.

Beyond the venue, Ursus Rookie Fest stands out for what is at stake. All riders stepping onto the podium will earn direct access to the World Rookie Snowboard Finals, scheduled in Austria at the end of March. In addition, the Best Man and Best Woman of the event will receive an all-inclusive ticket to the Finals, including accommodation, skipass and entry fee fully covered.

The prize pool goes even further. Rookie Men and Rookie Women podium winners will also be awarded a Surf Camp experience by Surf To Live, extending the competitive journey beyond winter. Podium athletes will additionally receive prize packages from event partners Moving CMP, Blue Tomato, and TSG, reinforcing the World Rookie Tour’s action sports ecosystem.

Registrations are currently open with an Early Bird rate available until December 19. After this deadline, registrations will remain open, but the price will increase. For riders and teams planning their winter calendar, securing a spot early is the smartest move.

Hosted at the iconic PenkenPark in the Horberg ski area, shaped by the PenkenPark Crew and operated by Mayrhofner Bergbahnen, this event marks the first tour stop of 2026 and a key moment for young snowboarders aiming to step into the international scene. Two days of riding, progression and shared stoke will turn Mayrhofen into the meeting point for the next generation of riders.

The Groms Open Rookie Fest is more than a competition. It’s where the season begins, friendships are built, and rookies experience the real World Rookie Tour vibe. Riders will compete across different age categories, pushing their best tricks in a park designed to reward style, control and creativity.

Scheduled between major FIS European Cup events in Prato Nevoso and Seiser Alm, it becomes an ideal addition for riders and teams already travelling across Europe. On 21 December 2025, The Hague will host a brand-new stop on the international tour: the World Rookie Fest The Hague, built on the legendary Rock a Rail setup during Snowfest. For the first time, young snowboarders from all over the world will have the chance to throw down tricks on one of Europe’s most iconic street-snowboard structures, normally reserved for top-tier pros.

This special edition brings the perfect mix of progression and fun. The Rock a Rail setup will be adapted so that riders of different levels can ride safely, without losing the raw street energy that made it famous. Competitors will battle for prestigious Rookie Tour titles and a selection of seriously cool prizes, including invitations to top international events, exclusive training sessions, and unique experiences with the World Rookie Tour partners.

Expect an international atmosphere from start to finish. Riders from multiple countries will gather in The Hague for a full day of street-snowboard action, supported by the vibrant lifestyle program of Snowfest.

After four successful years hosting the World Rookie Freeski Finals and heading into the fifth edition in 2026, Madonna di Campiglio is ready to welcome a brand-new chapter of the World Rookie Tour.
For the first time, the resort will host a WRT event dedicated exclusively to snowboarders: the Ursus Rookie Fest, scheduled from January 25th to 29th, 2026.

The legendary Ursus Snowpark, already known internationally for its freeski events and creative slopestyle lines, will now open its doors to the rising snowboard generation. The contest will take place on the L Line, one of the most appreciated kicker lines in the Alps, thanks to its variety of sizes, smooth transitions and progression-friendly layout. It’s the ideal setting for rookies and groms looking to compete, push their skills, and experience a world-class event atmosphere.

Behind the scenes, the Ursus Snowpark crew is approaching this first snowboard edition with the same dedication and precision that have made the park one of the most respected terrains in the region. As Snowpark Manager and co-founder of the World Rookie Tour, Jimmi and his team are preparing the L Line specifically for the event, shaping it to offer safe features, high-quality lips and landings, and the kind of playful flow that allows young riders to improve throughout the week. The goal is clear: deliver an environment where progression comes naturally and where every rider, coach and team can fully enjoy their time in Campiglio.

The event is already included in the official FIS calendar, confirming its status as a sanctioned FIS Junior slopestyle competition.

A Top Freestyle Destination: Ursus Snowpark

The event will take place on the iconic L Line of Ursus Snowpark, one of the most respected freestyle terrain parks in the Alps. Known for its creativity, safety and high-quality shaping, Ursus is a benchmark for young athletes training at international level.

The snowpark has hosted the World Rookie Freeski Finals for four consecutive years, earning global recognition. 2026 will mark the fifth edition, reaffirming Ursus as a world-class venue. The Pro Line opens in mid-January, and this season Madonna di Campiglio will host two consecutive international snowboard competitions, making it a true hotspot for freestyle progression.

Podium winners in the Rookie and Grom categories will receive direct qualification to the World Rookie Snowboard Finals in Kaprun (March 2026).
Additionally, the Best Girl and Best Boy will be awarded a full all-inclusive ticket covering contest entry, lift pass, and accommodation.
